I would say it’s admirable and ahead of its time. I don’t know how much Muslims today hold to this document though. I think Muslims were more fair than Christians during this time period. However in the past 200 years the Christian West has surpassed Muslims by leaps and bounds when it comes to charity, freedom, and human rights.
i would say i agree with you… but i wouldnt exactly call it the Christian West… more like just the West…
but most charities in the world originally started as Christian based charities and I commend them for that…
unfortunately, Muslims are too busy hating the west for political reasons to care for its own people or others…

Doesn’t mean it couldn’t be done.
well… it would be unfair for both sides…because
Turkey = Muslim Country
Spain = Christian Country…

Mezquita = still a Church
Sophia = its not a Mosque nor a Church…

best thing would be to turn the Mezquita into a Museum or share it with Muslims…

I wonder if anyone believes this is still so.

What do you think about this?
What is all the more interesting is that the monastery has some Muslims in its employ to help out with bread making and such. The monastery is a favorite stopping off place for caravans to refresh themselves with water and provisions. This is an excellent example of Christian Muslim cooperation. Now if we can only take some of this special stuff and sprinkle it around the world it would be nice.

exactly brother… however during the whole cartoon fiasco I believe Hamas protected a lot of Churches and prevented people from attacking it. I believe also the code of war in Islam prevents anyone from descecrating any religious symbols and places of worships (cept idols) and attacking monks, etc… unfortunately, no one follows that anymore :mad:
Promoting the actions of Hamas wiull hardly endear anyone here to Islam. In fact, considering Hamas takes responsibility for suicide bombings you should speak out against them.

Every Muslim on this board has renounced suicide bombings and you are promoting the organization taking responsibility for them?

what? where the hell am i promoting them or promoting suicide bombing? totally irrelevant post

So basically Emad, Evil and extremism have abducted islam to do wrong? People abducted my faith and the bible as well to do harm as Jesus predicted.
God Bless,

What about a muslim female who marries a Christian man? What does it say about that? St. Catherines has been raided many times by Muslims. The monks have had to defend themselves, hence the walls. In times of weakness they had to cooperate just to stay alive. If you read the document it clearly subjects them and does not treat them as being equal.

Maybe a trade could be done? Restore the Mosque of Cordoba, restore the basilica of Hagia Sophia.
But the Mosque of Cordoba is a mosque, turned into a Catholic church. Forgive me if I’m wrong but the Hagia Sofia was an Orthodox/Eastern Christian church and therefore (for want of a better phrase) not the concern of the Catholic Church nomatter what other disputes are occuring.
