Here’s the article from BBC. I’m so tired of Muslim nations, who are utterly intolerant of other religions, but everyone else is supposed to treat them and their false Prophet with kid gloves, or else they get death threats.

They come to live in Europe, yet they totally disrespect the Western tradition of free speech and expression, except when they want to riot because they feel excluded from the mainstream society, which they despise.

Newspapers across Europe have reprinted caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad to show support for a Danish paper whose cartoons have sparked Muslim outrage.

“We also warn of any unexpected consequences of (such) actions,”

That seems much more like a threat than a warning!

Islam needs to grow up and develop a little tolerance for others and their opinions. I’m sick of it.

“…warning that such actions would spread hatred and animosity among people of different faiths, the daily Arab News reported on 24 January.”

Read as: We will not tolerate your faiths or cultures, but if you do not tolerate ours WE will spread hatred and animosity towards you!

It is not worth anything BUT I disapprove of the cartoon being posted.

The mods can remove it if they deem that the correct thing to do. It won’t hurt my feelings at all. I did debate to myself if I should post it or not, and decided to post it and leave it up to the mods…

why? whats wrong with posting the cartoon on here? since when did everyone need to be wrapped in cotton wool? Islam can’t disrespect others and then riot and burn flags every time someone says ANYTHING about their ‘prophet’

True… I do not disagree with your statements in general, just the cartoon that is offensive to our Muslim posters but that is probably part of the point you are making

Yes, I agree. That’s why I posted it. I agree with the Europeans that they need to protect Free Speech and not cave into these threats. No one should fear for their lives if they critisise Islam. They are now threatening a cherished Western value of free expression. They need to grow up and stop acting like schoolyard bullies. They are an immature culture, IMO.

The Saudis and their ilk make their own warped rules for their weird society and Westerners who go there do respect it. My late husband worked over in Saudi for a year once, and they were very careful not to offend these easily offended people.

But, when they are on Western turf, they need to play by our rules, which means that their Prophet is fair game and their religion is open to critisism in the press. If they can’t stand the heat they need to get out of the kitchen.

Well if those are the “rules” then I guess Jesus is open game for everyone too?!?😦

On the front cover of “Rolling Stone” there is a disrespectful picture of some rapper dressed as Christ. I don’t see Christians running to the streets destroying property. I just don’t understand why the Muslims feel they need to take up arms over such a thing.

Yes, they have a right to feel offended, but just because you feel offended doesn’t give you a right to A) Force other countries to change their rules of free expression because you are offended and B) Threaten to do bodily harm to those you disagree with.

If they want to have a Theocracy where everyone is forced to follow this false Prophet, women have no rights, other religions are not allowed expression, the press is tightly controlled etc…, well then there’s probably not much we can do. But then they need to stay out of our business as well and be respectful of our societal values.

I learned as a kid “Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never hurt you” Maybe these muslims need to learn that simple mantra.

If you’ve watched any TV lately, it should be obvious that this is definitely the case!

  1. There is no right to “not be offended”.
  2. If there was a right to “not be offended”, then freedom of speech would cease because someone can always find anything a person says to be offensive. (Heck, the ACLU bristles at “Merry Christmas”).
  3. God can take care of Himself. If you offend God, you will find out soon enough upon your death.

They are playing by our rules. Our rules let anyone complain about whatever they want.

We can even see Christians complaining about the recent cover of Rolling Stone that featured some rapper done up like Jesus.

We have the Muslims complaining about depictions of Mohamed, and we have the Christians complaining about depictions of Jesus. Both are following the same rules.
