**You have not quoted the full Hadith. The prophet Muhammad said “There is no newborn but the Satan smacks him/her and the newborn cries out except Jesus and his mother Mary.” .
These words are in full praise of Jesus and mother Mary. The Hadith is (apparantly) telling that Satan smites every newborn at birth and the newborn cries out. But Satan never smites Jesus and his mother Mary.
It is necessary to under stand this Hadith properly. Please refer to the last verses ( 11&12 ) of chapter 66 of the Quran shown below:
[66:11] And Allah sets forth for those who believe the example of the wife of Pharaoh when she said, ‘My Lord! build for me a house with Thee in the Garden; and deliver me from Pharaoh and his work, and deliver me from the wrongdoing people;’
[66:12] And the example of Mary, the daughter of ‘Imran, who guarded her private parts — so We breathed into him of Our Spirit — and she fulfilled in her person the words of her Lord and His Books and was one of the obedient.

In these verse Allah has, in the Quran, given the example of the believing men and women with two ladies. The one lady is the wife of Pharoah, the king of Egypt. The other lady is Mary, the mother of Jesus.
The Quran is telling us that the believers (newborn i.e. converted) are of two types. There are some whom the Satan teases and they suffer and cry out, as did the wife of Pharoah. In other words, they are persecuted and they suffer and they call out for help against the doings of the dare Devil (satan).
There are others who are not tempted (teased) by the Satan. The Satan does not come near them. They are like Jesus and Mary, the mother of Jesus. They are close to God without any difficulty, distress. Those believers are likened to Jesus and his mother, i.e. purified from beginning.
The Hadith is also telling the samething. It is all metaphorical. i.e. told in parable. It is not any physical birth. The Hadith is telling about the spiritual birth. Whenever any one becomes a believer and returns to God, he/she faces two type of conditions. Either he/she is tried and tempted by the Satan and cries out like did the wife of Pharoah. or some believers are like jesus and his mother. they are not smacked by the devil. They do not cry out or suffer due to the doings of the devil.
The birth mentioned in Hadith is the spiritual birth, not any physical birth.
If this meaning is not taken then it would mean that all prophets (except Jesus and his mother) of God were smacked by the devil at the time of their birth. That cannot be true.
