This answers half the question in my opinion, we learned a moral lesson, but still the science part.
Yawning:
“Yawn, a deep, usually involuntary, intake of air that breaks the shallow breathing that often accompanies drowsiness or boredom. During a yawn there is a sudden increase in the heart rate and watering of the eyes, possibly due to pressure on the tear glands as the air is sucked in”. (Encarta Encyclopedia)
1) **Preventable yawning ** is linked to health problems including heart disease, respiratory disease, etc., “yawning can exacerbate some joint and pain conditions, including temporomandibular joint and neuralgias”. (Melissa Kaplan’s Herp Care Collection, anapsid.org/sneeze.html)
2) When yawning you’re actually taking in air through your mouth, and exhaling it again through the mouth, so it’s as if you took a breath, but as I learned from some studies that yawning lasts for an average of 6seconds, and that cannot be considered as a single breath because you took a large amount of air. Everyone knows that breathing through the nose is much better than through the mouth, I think I’ll cut long story short here’s a quick link breathing.com/articles/nose-breathing.htm. What’s stated in this link I think most of you should be familiar with. 14 points why breathing through the nose is better.
Sneezing
“Sneezing is a natural biological response to an irritant in the nose. Sneezing may also be an allergic reaction, both to airborne substances and to ingested substances. (Melissa Kaplan’s Herp Care Collection)
When sneezing you’re actually forcing out any foreign bodies (pollen grains, viruses, dust particles, etc…) that has entered your nostrils. Therefore, sneezing simply clears your nostrils and airways (which is a good a thing).
.
**I’d like to point out, that prophet Muhammad was the first man to recommend “Health Quarantine”. Read this hadith (Vol.7, Book 71, hadith 624, Sahih Bukhari)
Peace

“Sneezing is good. It's a reflex that is intended to rid your nasal passages of an irritant or infection. If you suppress a sneeze the irritants remain trapped in your nose. So go ahead and blow, and consider the following.” [ehow.com/how_8203_control-sneeze.html](http://www.ehow.com/how_8203_control-sneeze.html)
