do Muslims believe Muhammad was sinless?

do Muslims believe Muhammad was sinless all his life, even before, according to the Muslim claim, he was called to be a prophet?

do Muslims believe all the prophets were sinless, for all their lives, even before they were called to be prophets?

He couldnt have been sinless after all he has done during his prophethood.

I obviously do not believe he was sinless. I am asking what the Muslims believe

The original Muslim belief was that Jesus and Mary were the only sinless people who ever lived. But I think there’s been a movement lately among many Muslims to propagate the belief that ALL the prophets were sinless. I don’t think I have to explain why anything like that would possibly happen.

Prophet Muhammad pbuh was sinless like all prophet including Jesus.

For most of the sixty-three years of his life, Muhammad was a merchant, then a prophet. He took up the sword late in his life. He was a warrior for ten years.

You call “sinless” a man who raided and looted caravans, who murdered people, or had them assassinated, sometimes simply because they ridiculed him, who had sex with a child and who with his "trusty"companions raped women captives after torturing and killing their husbands and families, who lied when it was expedient? You’ve got to be kidding!

The truth is that there is a difference of opinion among Muslim scholars as to whether God’s prophets were perfectly sinless, or not, but all agree that they were all free from all major sins.

The distinction between Muhammad (PBUH) and Jesus (PBUH), or between both of them and other prophets, as exoflare seems to believe has never, ever existed in scholarly exegesis. When talking about sinlessness of prophets in Islam, the discussion is always across the board, inconsiderate of individual prophets. Either they were all sinless or they all weren’t. That is what is debated, not individual prophets.

And yes, those who believe the prophets were pefectly sinless, along with those who believe they avoided at least all major sins, all believe the prophets would have been sinless for their entire lives, even before they were called to serve God. In the reasoning of some, the prophets were chosen by God to reveal His will to mankind because of the pure lives they led.

I have never read the Koran but I have read my bible and the Word of God tells me “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. So either my bible is a lie or Allah is not God?

Romans5:1:
So either my bible is a lie or Allah is not God?
It must be the former, because even Arab Christians will call the latter false.

According to the Qur’an, Muhammad was indeed a sinner.

In 40:55 he is instructed to repent of his sin (istaghfir lidhanbika).

In 48:1-2 Allah is quoted as addressing him in this way: "Verily We have granted you a manifest victory, that God may forgive you your faults of the past and those to follow…(Innaa fataHnaa laka fatHan mubiinan liyaghfira laka Allah maa taquddama min dhanbika wa maa ta’akhkhara…

(12 years down the line, and my al-Mawrid dictionary still smells like the spices sold in the shop where I bought it.)

The other thing is that Muslims pray for their prophets every time one of their names is mentioned (the PBUH/peace be upon him). What possible reason would they have to pray for a dead person who never committed a single sin in his life?

Saying “Peace be upon him” is not praying for the Prophet. It is sending, God’s greetings, peace and blessings upon them. That’s an honorific that has nothing do with praying for someone’s forgiveness.

Dear Shen,

I believe that the belief of All prophets are sinless is NOT in Quran, may be in some other Islamic source - unless you can show me otherwise. Since sin is related to God, I don’t think we can use other source than Quran.
