We know Zeinab was the wife of Zaid, Muhammad’s adopted son. What is the morality behind a prophet marrying his adopted son’s wife?

According to the hadiths or sira, Muhammad once spied Zaynab in a state of undress when he was visiting Zayd. So he wanted to marry her. At the time, Zayd and Zaynab were having marital problems and Zayd wanted to divorce Zaynab so Muhammad could have his way with her.

However, according to the Arab custom of the time, it was considered incest to marry an adopted son’s wife or ex-wife. But Muhammad’s lust for Zaynab was too strong. He sent Zayd to tell her that he wanted to marry her - but Zaynab refused saying that only if Allah were to reveal verses saying the marriage was okay would she do so (probably for fear of breaking the incest taboo).

Lo and behold, when Muhammad heard of Zaynab’s request for verses from Allah - out came the situational verses saying that Allah wanted to teach the Arabs that an adopted son is not a blood relation and hence it is permissible for Muhammad to marry Zaynab.

If anyone doesn’t see just how false Allah and Muhammad are, then they must be Muslims. How can a real god make situational verses to satisfy the lust of one man?

No wonder little Aisha complained that "Allah was sure quick to fulfill Muhammad’s desires’.

Whatever Muhammad wanted - out would come a situational verse from Allah to justify it.

should i understand that the morality behind it is teaching arabs that adopted sons are not blood relatives? did Muhammad need to marry this woman to teach something??

Muslims are unable to learn about the difference between natural born sons and adopted sons without Muhammad having sex.

is this the Islamic response to this marriage? that Muhammad had to have sex with Zeinab to teach that adopted sons are not blood relatives and hence marrying their wives is ok??

Dear inJesus,
You have to understand the great theological importance of this issue to the mind of Allah. Without Muhammad satisfying his lust for Zaynab the poor Muslims simply cannot comprehend the difference between a natural born son and an adopted son. They just can’t. It’s a physical impossibility that their Islamic brains cannot comprehend.

You can’t just tell the Muslims that a natural born son is one that is ‘begotten’ by oneself while an adopted son is ‘begotten’ by another. They won’t understand it.

But if you tell them that Zaynab’s ex-hubby was Muhammad’s ex-adopted son they will instantly understand.

BTW: because of this issue, adoption was outlawed in Islam. Millions of poor little orphans are not given caring homes because Muhammad once lusted after Zaynab.

I couldn’t believe what i just read in The Seera Al Nabawiyya:

i translate from the Seera volume 3 :

إذا رغب في امرأة متزوجة يجب على زوجها أن يطلقها له ، وأنه إذا رغب في أمة وجب على سيدها أن يهبها له.

If Muhammad desired a married woman, her husband has to divorce her and if he desired a slave woman, her owner must give her to him as a gift.

So we see Muhammad breaking 2 rules of God:

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Matthew 5:27-28

For I hate divorce,’ says the LORD, the God of Israel

Yet Allah says?:

and you concealed in your soul what Allah would bring to light, and you feared men, and Allah had a greater right that you should fear Him.

what Muhammad concealed is his lust for a married woman, or his desire to marry a married woman or his wish that Zeid would divorce he in order for him to marry her. To all this, Allah says : good.

I do not think the real reason is to teach arabs…it’s too ridiculous to be coming from God. I think the seera puts it well : Muhammad wanted it so and Allah acts upon Muhammad’s desires.

BTW: because of this issue, adoption was outlawed in Islam. Millions of poor little orphans are not given caring homes because Muhammad once lusted after Zaynab.
if not mistaken, adoption is not forbidden. What is forbidden is giving your name to the child you adopted.

I think the sharia forbids adoption but not guardianship. You can be a guardian to an orphan but cannot adopt him/her. Muslims aren’t renown for their generosity and caring nature wrt to orphans even when they’re ‘guardians’. Typically guardianship is with someone you already know. It’s not the same as adopting a total stranger child.

so what the Quran is talking about is not against adoption (taking care of an orphan) but against giving him your name as if he were a biological son.

still, Muhammad could have uttered a sentence without marrying the woman.
