The Quran speaks differently then Muslims about the Gospel and Torah and yes even the Holy Bible:

2:87 We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a messenger with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay!

2:136 Say ye: “We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah.”

3:3 It is He Who sent down to thee, in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law and the Gospel before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion.

3.84 Say: “We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will.”

5:44 It was We who revealed the law: therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed to Allah’s will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah’s book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by what Allah hath revealed, they are Unbelievers.

5:46 And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.

5:47 And the New Testament’s/Bible’s people should judge/rule with what God descended in it, and who does not judge/rule with what God descended, so those, they are the debauchers

5:48 To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;

5.66 If only they had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course: but many of them follow a course that is evil.

5:68 Say: “O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord.” It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over people without Faith.

6:154 Moreover, We gave Moses the Book, completing to those who would do right, and explaining all things in detail,- and a guide and a mercy, that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.

10.94 If thou wert in doubt as to what We have revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been reading the Book from before thee: the Truth hath indeed come to thee from thy Lord: so be in no wise of those in doubt.

32:23We did indeed aforetime give the Book to Moses: be not then in doubt of its reaching: and We made it a guide to the Children of Israel

im not even a muslim-i just have to disagree with idiots and the comments they make whether from muslims or christians like yourself.
There is a quote from Mark Twain you should read.

“It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.”
You are either:
  1. Incredibly stupid
    OR
  2. Actually cementing what I was saying of God being supreme and having names attached to him to describe his greatness (such as al-jabbar, al-rahim, al-rahman, al-malik, al-quddus, al-aziz, al-alim), which creates the quandary of: why did you say I was incorrect???
I do not know how your were raise but you are very arrogant and rude.

It is time for you to grow up and learn how to carry on an adult discussion.

You are being ignored now as I doubt you can learn but know that I will pray for you.

Your saying that all the people who followed Muhammed were idiots (people who had lived with him, known his characteristics, etc) and now over 700 years later we have you saying that Muhammed just made everything up.
Yes. Yes. And unfortunately the guy was very mysogynistic, arrogant, paranoid, demented and perverted. I could probably find a few more adjectives too, naricissistic comes to mind also. He was also very forgetful and that is why there is this thing called abrogation in Islam.

So calling people names is ok?

Ok. Now I think I understand.

I know that this next question may not be answerable, but why was Yaweh not one of the 99 names given? If GOd told Moses that it would be His name forever to all generations, why was it left off?
Because the Qur’an is in Arabic, and so uses Arabic names for God. It’d be unsuitable for Hebrew names (however legitimate) to be in there.

Interesting.

Do any of the names listed mean the same thing?

On why 9/11 happened. If you’re looking for answers in the Qur’an then, respectfully, I think you’re going about this in entirely the wrong way. Those attacks were not about and had nothing to do with religion or theology. A much better way to approach the question would be to do some reading on how the USA has behaved in the Middle-east since about the 1950s. I’m not saying this in an attempt to dodge your question, but to be honest with you I don’t have much interest in getting into a discussion about US Middle-east policy in this thread.

On 2:191. This Qur’anic verse is referring to a specific war during Muhammad’s Prophethood in which Muslims were threatened with attack and probably annihilation by the Meccan Pagans, though the principles contained therein are considered by jurists to be general in application. That is to say, what it says are laws of war for Muslims. The phrase ‘persecution is worse than slaughter’ basically means the same thing as ‘give me liberty or give me death’. It means that its better that persecuted people refuse to be persecuted even if that means that they will be killed. The verse on its own is I think quite clear that force should be used only to defend yourself from the aggressors use of force. If that isn’t made adequately clear in 2:191, then the very next verse, which reads "But if they stop, God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (2:192)) should settle the matter.
Dear Kadaveri, you are right that answering these questions will move the thread away from the topic, but well just out of curiousity, Was it really necessary to do what was done on 9/11 to USA just because of the american policy in Middle East>? Why not do what muslims did in regards to Denmark, and now are planning to do with Switzerland? Ban their products completely?

As for your second reply in regards to Mohammed, I am surprised, cause Christianity never happened in the life time of Jesus, so how come there were so many muslims already during the life time of mohammad? and like Christianity grew thru the disciples of Jesus, couldnt Islam have grown from the companions of mohammed? Your word 'probably annihilation ’ makes me wonder if there is any truth in it.

The companions of mohamad were a mess. They fought with one another. Muslim on muslim as soon as mohamad died and it went on for a long time.

This is why you have the Sunny islam and the Shia islam ~ those two from the very beginning didn’t play nice in the Saudi sand box and they were at war with each other.

i still want my question answered. why did u use the 99 names of Allah when it actually agrees with my point and then saying that i am incorrect?

wonder why nobody who lived with him at the time called him all these names? and they would’ve known him the best.

So calling people names is ok?
Yes it is, but only when they deserve those names.

Zaki, here in America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, we have an old saying and this goes for mohamad.

**You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time. **

Abraham Lincoln, (attributed) - 16th president of US (1809 - 1865)

I see based on your posts that you are still struggling as to leaving islam.

As I’ve done before, I wish you well on your journey. Perhaps you’ll return back to Christianity.

Zaki, islam is false

May Our LORD Jesus Christ help you find your path. Zaki, ask Him and He will show you the way!

Best regards,
Pam

Indeed and I agree with you, I was just stating the posters age.

Zaki is young, that’s all and he is a very confused teen ~ and teens cannot partake in an adult discussion.

could you just please answer my question? What was your point using the 99 names of Allah and saying I was incorrect about God in islam being all-perfect and all-powerful when you were actually agreeing with what I was saying?

gee thanks mate <_<
Zaki - believe me sweetie - teens cannot have adult conversations.

The maturity level is not there yet.

The mentality level is not here yet.

The knowledge level is not here yet.

But believe me, as you get older, the more wiser you become and you have a long way to go!

Don’t forget kid, we were all 15 at one time in our lives.

Do Christians and Jews believe that they can get to Paradise even though they reject Muhammad’s Prophethood?
Someone who believes that Muhammad was a prophet cannot get to Paradise.
That alone is enough of a reason for the Qur’an to consider them as expecting special treatment from God.
But no proof of your original claim
Read the Qur’an from an Islamic lens.
Will you read the Bible from a Christian perspective?
And I don’t understand what you’re talking about when you say “Islam refuses to talk about God’s love”. The Qur’an talks about God’s love quite often, 85:14 to give an quick example off the top of my head.
85:14 says “…And He is the Forgiver, the Most Kind.”
All of the attributes attributed (yeah, word-play) to God in the koran are not manifefestations of God’s NATURE, but of his WILL. Your “god” is supposed to be kind, not because it’s his nature (of which we humans can know nothing), but simply because he wants to be.

No. It’s about how God sees Christians and Jews.
Quite right.
God says Muhammad is my Prophet sent to all mankind and that rejecting him means to reject Me.
According to islam.
Your claim is, that Christians and Jews believe they are more worthy of God’s love, because of what the koran says. Consulting the koran for insight as to what Christians and Jews believe is just plain ridiculous.
The Qur’an is not wrong about you, you do reject Muhammad and yet still think you can get to Paradise.
Ohh, the wonders of circular reasoning
If the koran says that Christians and Jews believe themselves more loved, or more worthy to be loved, by God than any other human beings, then it’s wrong. And if it says that Christians worship Mary as a God, then it’s wrong there, too. And if…

The koran is so packed with misconceptions and factual errors, that it makes no sense for it to be senkrecht von Oben. It DOES make sense, however, for it to be either the words of an Arabic merchant, or that of a demon who decided to use said merchant as a tool.
Most likely a combination of the two.

Actually, a lot of adults cannot have adult conversations. I’ve met my fair share of those in these forums, “none mentioned, none forgotten” (Danish proverb).
On the other hand, I’ve seen teens debate with much more maturity and knowledge than a lot of adults. Especially but by no means limited to, old people.

ZAKI, however, is not one of those…

PS: Pointing out name-calling is a little hypocritical when you resort to yourself, don’t you think?

I’m still waiting for some sort of reply from Kadaveri to the points I raised in post #56. If the offending verse in the Qur’an is “God’s” refutation of Christian and Jewish claims, then how can this really be “God’s” stance, when the true God knows us and what we think and believe and teach (which does NOT include this idea that is found in the Qur’an that we say that God loves us more than you or that we are guaranteed paradise in any circumstance)? How can “God” get it so obviously wrong? The only other option is that it is not from God, but from Muhammad or someone else, in which case, why should we care at all about what it says?

If it is from “God”, then it is from a “God” who does not know his own creation and is hence ignorant of something and hence not God at all. If it is not from God, then it doesn’t matter if we follow it or not, because it is some foolish person’s idea of what we believe, not what GOD knows that we believe.

Please respond to this problem, Kadaveri.
