Question??? The Orthodox churchs (Byzintine) allows their Priests only 1 Euchuristic concecration per day. If they want a second Mass (Divine Liturgy) it must be done by a different Priest). The Latin rite Catholics can do several. Can Eastern rite Catholic Priests concecrate the Euchurist more then 1 time in a day? in other words can the same Priest conduct 2 or more Divine Liturgies in a day?

I have heard of Ukrainian Catholic priests serving two parish churches. They celebrate 2 Divine Liturgies on Saturday evening and two or three more on Sunday morning. I drove our parish priest to another town for his second of three Sunday morning Divine Liturgies on several occasions. I attended a Melkite Catholic Church where the priest only celebrated one Divine Liturgy on Sunday on Sunday.

I always thought the rule was that a Divine Liturgy can only be served once a day at a parish. But I could be wrong.

The usual convention is one celebration per altar (antimension). For a priest serving one Liturgy at multiple parishes, he is still keeping this norm. As has been pointed out, economia must always be considered.

At some parishes, like Sts. Volodymyr and Olha UGCC in Chicago, there is no physical way everyone could go to one Divine Liturgy.

That’s when it’s time to build another church building. 😉

A sister parish is getting ready to break ground on it’s new church… the cost is $6,000,000.00…

Our Eparchy says that you have to have AT LEAST 60% of the money in the bank BEFORE you can talk to an architect…

What do you do until then??

We are no longer in isolated little villages with 200 people attending Divine Liturgy and people REALLY need to wake up to that fact…

Yes, except when economia requires a second.
To my knowledge it is only allowed if a second antimens is used. At our parish we have two liturgies and our bishop issued a second one.

Yours in Christ
Joe

Several spinoff parishes have been built, and Sts. V&O still can’t hold everyone at one Liturgy.
