Multiple intentions on a Rosary and/or Prayers?

I am a returning Catholic, who never prayed the Rosary in adulthood. We rarely prayed it at the large Parish we sometimes visited with our Grandma, but that was it.

I returned on Feb 6 of this year; I have prayed the Rosary daily (often twice, morning and evening) since then, whether silently by myself, or with an application that is helping me along on my Android (it’s amazing!).

Can I ask for multiple intentions on a Rosary?

If I say other prayers (Marian, Saints, etc) either daily or as part of a Novena, can I ask for multiple intentions?

I have a notebook with a few pages of people, intentions, and thanks; do I need to say all of those, or can I say “all of my prayer book, especially XXXX and XXXX.”?

I have on occasion fell asleep before finishing my Rosary. I heard that the Angels and Saints in Heaven finish it for me; legend? I know it’s better to be awake completely, but it’s better than nothing at all.

I pray for something whenever it comes into my head when i am praying the Holy Rosary. so i do have multiple intentions. I could be wrong, but i think that the biggest thing is faith. Praying the Holy Rosary is such an effective tool when done with faith.

A more organized approach is to write down prayer intentions in a journal and check them off or cross them out when completed. I neglected to keep up this practice, but it is a lot less haphazard.

By the way, i noticed that Saint Dymphna is your Confirmation Saint. If you don’t mind, please offer up one or two short prayers for me.

One way to see it…
When your talking to your best friend…you can say anything your heart desires,( thats prayer♥) and when you fall asleep, well many people who love you, especially your Mama…they will finish your your words a lot…like husband and wives do…

May sound silly to some people, but when we pray it is simply conversations,with our Lord, His Mama and His friends that love Him…yes the bible says we have guardian angels! So yes, many believe they finish our prayers and lift them up to the Lord for us, I ask my guardian angel to♥…if I was a guardian angel…I would sure grant that request with pleasure♥ lets not limit the beauty of love and the power of God for God is love♥!

There are no rules when it comes to prayer. Our Lady gave us the rosary prayer…and what a gift it is…I imagine holding hand with Mary as I pray the rosary, and she brings me closer to Jesus♥ and the beads I often think of a person that I need to pray for each bead…we multu task in our daily lives often…so its simply like that. The entire intention could be for one thing and you could be offering other prayers in between…

Ask God for anything you want! He’s waiting for you…

Just remember, not getting what you want doesn’t mean your prayers are not answered. God will answer them as He sees fit.

But, yes, ask away!!!

We don’t need to limit the Lord. Mention all the intentions that are on your heart.

With regard to falling asleep, I remember reading this in the autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux “The Story of a Soul” : She mentions that when she falls asleep involuntarily during Night Prayer she knows that the good God is holding her in His arms.

Also, if someone has insomnia they can say the Rosary instead of having all kinds of thoughts whirling around in their heads. It is very peaceful, and a good way to fall asleep!

most effective way is to pray for the holy souls in purgatory and then ask them to interceede fon your behalf for your intentions.
the prayer our Lady of Fatima asked to be said between each decade O my Jesus save us from the fires of @#!*% and espically those most in need of your mercy this refers to the holy souls in purgatory as the worst pain you can imagine on earth does not come near the pain they feel, longing for God. everytime your prayers release a souls from purgatory its as though you released Jesus from purgatory. their intercession on our behalf accounts for an awful lot more that our own meek prayers .

Can I ask for multiple intentions on a Rosary?

Sure, I suppose any graces earned and passed on would fall under a pie chart-like way of distribution.

…as an aside and touching base with this multiple intention thread;

I’m getting to the point that I have so many intentions that I can’t remember them all or forget about some, and eventually worry about this after a successful day of work and prayer.

Is there any official ruling about making a one time list, meditating over it, and asking the BVM to track and proportion any graces earned during all future prayers?

You know there’s always these noble requests for prayers, you may even hear them at church and say to yourself…‘Oh right, lets do that’…

… then you forget.

Well my plan after all my intentions are made known once is to also have a “general purpose intention folder” to cover these important requests that I forget about…like the present concave about to elect the next Pope, or the sick people in the parish etc.

Point being whether you say 1 decade or 1 Rosary all you intentions are covered that day.

This way my mind is a tad clearer and less distracted knowing all I have to do is pray and that the Divine is doing heavy lifting.

Thanks for the info…I will add you to my prayer journal, and mark St. Dymphna next to them. I came to her, I thought by choice; I realized many years, I was led to her and she was given to me as my Confirmation Saint. I’ve struggled many years with depression, almost clinical at times; and I have discovered that my birthfamily also has many manifestations of it as well. I thought I was choosing her because of her beautiful name, and to stand up to my mother. (She wanted Anne or Cecilia for me)
