It’s a wonder I have any faith at all, let alone the Faith.

When I think of number of times I was solicited toward other religions and philosophies, it is truly staggering.

Between Mormons, JW’s, new agers of several types, some quasi Masonic philosophy, Scientology, spiritism, psychic mind-over-matter stuff, Protestant sects of eight or ten types, from legitimate to the bizarre…

How is it I came to (at least eventually) reject all of these and end up embracing the Faith of my baptism?

Would anyone care to share their experiences?

I completely understand where you are coming from in fact I was in a prayer group that did just that. there were people from many different religions that tried to push their own agenda. The most amazing thing to me was that the more they pushed their religion on me and the more I studied the bible; even though it was a King James Bible; the more I was drawn to the Catholic Faith. I was raissed Catholic and even through all of this I remained in the Catholic Church. But I was a pew warmer. Ten years later I joined a Seminary and right now I am in my fourth year studying to be a Priest.

Are you referring to all the Catholics on this NON CATHOLIC forum who spend all their time trying to convince everyone that Roman catholicism is THE ONLY faith?

Jroman212,

Praise God. I belong to a small Christian community whose ministry it is to pray for and promote vocations, specifically the priesthood. Please PM me with a few details and we will certainly keep you in our prayers.

I placed this thread in Catholic Life under evangelization, I suppose it was moved.

This is a Catholic forum. I have not gone to a New Age, Scientology, Baptist forum, etc. to proselytize anyone.

I am sorry if it offends you that I believe my Faith to be the one revealed by God, and therefore willed by Him. To deny this would be to deny God. Not happening in this instance.

What have you found on your journey, so far? I would be interested in knowing this.
Perhaps you should start a forum (or go to one that exists) for spiritually searching people, and compare notes. That may be a very interesting forum, as a matter of fact.

You do it because you have nothing but contempt for any other faith.

It may work for you, but don’t consider your motives and abilities to hold to your faith as all that noble…it’s just you being busy patting yourself on the bat with one hand, while wielding the ax against everybody else with the other.

You mistake me clearly. I am not the least offended that you believe in your faith. But your assumption is far off. Any look around this section of the forum which is for NON Catholic faith discussion will soon show you that mostly it’s Catholics arguing that nobody’s religion is worth a darn but theirs. A fair number of non-Catholics argue as well that there’s is better, but I find on balance that most non-Catholics are a bit more willing to live and let live. Do you not see a basic arrogance in puffing around claiming you’re the ONLY valid church? Most of us do I assure you.

There are many forums around the internet, but none has very many followers alas, or they are so broad in subject that there are few posters to any specific issue. I have no talent not interest in starting a forum.

We non Roman Catholics come to discuss common issues and hope to enjoy some sort of ecumenical friendship. That too seems mostly not to happen.

We each have our prejudices.

However, unlike how it appears with you, Spirit Meadow and dianaiad, I do not hold disdain for the persons who hold faiths that differ from my own.

OTOH, if my religion is true, then, anything that detracts from the Truth, that is, Christ, who revealed God the Father to us, is a lie. It is designed to interfere with our relationship to God. He is our ultimate and permanent happiness.

The enemy of our soul is the author of all other religions, particularly quasi- Christian ones that are offshoots of the original. Eastern religions, which predate Christianity, with the exception of Buddhism, worship false gods.

SpiritMeadow, you claim to be here to discuss, but when I asked you for some of your thoughts, you just ranted on and on. You are clearly not interested in discussion, but are looking for an excuse to argue and be contradictory. It’s a disappointment to me.

Your post topic was specific, My personal journey is not germane to the topic. I posted a rather short reply. Your calling it a rant is unfortunate and hardly fair. It seems you are the one wishing to start controversy, since you call non-Christians enemies of the soul. That is about as uncharitable as it gets in my humble opinion. To suggest that all peoples who worship God in a manner different that yours is not charitible. Since we at least do agree there is but one God, people cannot worship false gods, but only worship in a manner you find unseemly. I guess God has the right to accept the worship of others in their tradition if he wants to. Do you KNOW he doesn’t?
