Muppet Show anyone?

I LOVE the muppets. I have 8 VHS tapes with three episodes each. I watch them often when I need to relieve some stress ( which is often because I am a full time youth minister). I have a strange sense of humor and whenever someone asks me why I am the way that I am I always say because I grew up watching the muppets.
My two favorite episodes that I have on tape are Peter Sellers and Harry Belefonte.
I also LOVED the muppet christmas special. Has anyone else seen that one? It is the one where they all go to Fozzies mom’s house in the country and the chef is going to cook Big Bird for Christmas dinner?

I don’t remember that one. It must have been funny, I can just imagine Big Bird trying to hide from the chef. :rotfl:

On that link is one where they have a Star Wars show. I had forgotten about that one too.
 
**Pig In Space!! That was one of my favorites!! And when they had Mark Hamill on, Gonzo was Darth, with the helmet showing the shape of his “nose”.

My favorite muppet was Beeker…Meep!**
 
Miss Piggy because she could karate chop. And did so whenever anyone really irritated her. I grew up on Muppet reruns in the 80s. Vetinary Hospital with the really bad jokes and puns. Loved Wardolf and Statler. They set the standard for hecklers. Poor Beaker. He really needed to find a new job.

Though Animal had the best line at the end of The Muppet Movie: "Go home! Go home!’
 
Though I will always remember the Swedish Chef and “Chocolate Moose.”

Rowlf appeared as a semi-regular – playing the piano and voiced by either Jim Henson or Frank Oz-- on the Jimmy Dean Show from 1963-1966.

Sesame Street debuted in 1969.

So I do believe you’re correct.

One thing on it that sure wouldn’t be allowed today – that cigarette hanging out of Bobby Benson’s mouth as he directs The Bobby Benson Baby Band! (I loved the number where the Baby Band joined Lorretta Lynn for One’s On The Way!)

Our kids pretty much memorized the show with Garth Brooks (“Look Mr. Brooks! We’re wearing bloomers too!”)

Frank Oz singing Miss Piggy. I love to imagine what he looked like belting out “Never Before and Never Again”!

Ah, good memories.
 
I remember one episode where they had one of their stagehands do the hosting, Chris (cannot remember his last name). He did this song, “Hawaiian Cowboy” and ended up being showered by peanuts. Comedy gold, I tell you! I have been looking for that online for years.
 
Oh I’m a BIG muppet fan!!

You know, you can get seasons 1 and 2 of the muppet show on DVD now. (And they’re doing boxsets of the classic Sesame Street episodes too!!)

I got my Christmas wishlist already made up!! 😃
