Great video. Thanks for posting.

The Church has been banging on about sacred music even before Vat II. If only people were listening and reading.

It is a lot more muddy than the presenter asserts, even with the church documents as a guide. The presenter says it is easy to distinguish secular from sacred, but over time, “popular” becomes “classic” and it is not so easy. What was once “modern” is now “traditional”. I have tried to develop an appreciation of chant, but a little goes a long way for me (very little, very long). The Latin pieces can be nice, but the English ones all sound alike and are quite boring musically. I’d rather have no music than chant. It is like screeching chalk on a chalkboard for me. I sincerely hope my parish does not implement it. Maybe I’ve never heard well done chant.

One mistake though, the Mass is not a ‘reenactment of the crucifixion of our Lord’. It makes present the unbloody sacrifice, it does not renenact it.
Phemie, I noticed the same thing! 👍

But, did you mean to say it makes present the unbloody sacrifice? Maybe it would be more accurate to say it is an unbloody sacrifice, or it makes present the one sacrifice in an unbloody manner.

(I avoid saying it makes present the crucifixion in an unbloody manner – that is one of my bug-a-boos).

I’ll go with the one I highlighted. 🙂
