Baba Brinkman – A scholar whose thesis drew parallels between the worlds of hip-hop music and literary poetry. After graduating in 2003, Baba began his career as a rap troubadour. His music is now used in science classrooms around the world

Jeffrey Lewis – Singer/songwriter, and Anti-folk legend and indie comic book artist.

Spoonboy – David Combs’ solo side project balances the deep philosophical questions of the day with the optimism of youth consistently delivered through super catchy melodies.

Words Such As Burn – Though less than a year old, their lineup of atheist rockers is quite solid. Based in Raleigh, and fronted by Bruce Harris, with Todd Stiefel on guitar, they will be bringing the rock.

Roy Zimmerman – Hilarious singer/songwriter, Roy is one of the most popular atheist musicians around. He consistently delivers insightful humor through clever word play and intelligent subject matter.

There will be a lot of speakers at this event as well. Dan Barker, Ed Brayton, Richard Dawkins, Margaret Downey , Jen McCreight, Dale McGowan, Hemant Mehta, Nathan Phelps, Al Stefanelli, Todd Stiefel, Mikey Weinstein

This one is an atheist “Out Campaign.”
Unlike the common saying, there actually are some atheists in the military.

Are you intentionally acting dense? Not all music is religious in nature (in fact, most of it isn’t). Why should it be? And not everything atheists do is a testament to their atheism. Most of the time I don’t even think about it.
 
Possibly Flogging Molly. I know they use Catholic references but I’m not completely sure if they are all anti-Catholic or what.
 
Looks to be a public display. There have been stories in the past of soldiers being treated unequally and unfairly for not being within the right in-group. It some what reminds me of the displays that gay Americans used to make to make their presence known on their pathway to acquire fair standing in society.

On the softer side, John Lennon’s “Imagine” is fairly well-known. “Over The Rainbow” also has impeccable atheist credentials.

There’s not an industry-standard subgenre for atheist music, like there is for contemporary Christian music or more traditional hymns. In fact, many powerful messages can be wrapped in honest religious imagery and language – for example, Tool’s “Right in Two” or Sinead O’Connor’s “A Prayer for England.”

Edit: And I forgot, of course, Billy Joel’s “Only the Good Die Young.” 😃

There are such things as religious concerts. They are obviously inspired by love of God.

At an atheist concert, who inspires the the music? Is it all put-down of religion music, or does it affirm Nogod?

Will someone name one song that is specifically atheist in theme?

I mean, if atheism is to be celebrated at a concert, isn’t there an obligation to show that the music is specifically atheistic as opposed to merely secular?

Let’s not be obtuse about this!

I think you’re confused as to the point of this concert.

It isn’t to reaffirm or celebrate an atheist’s lack of faith. It isn’t to pay tribute to a deity, which you’ve named “Nogod.”

It is to show others that atheists do exist and that they’re not baby eating monsters.

The music doesn’t have to put down religion to be considered “atheist-friendly.” There is a lot of music that don’t even mention God, Jesus, or worship.

I was under the impression that the ban was about convincing others that atheism is right/wrong.

You may be right though- I don’t want to risk it.

Atheists need a lot of help not believing in God and that’s all atheist-events are about.
