Music from Movies

Hi,

I was in a band (not the rock band kind, but the classical/jazz/concert band kind; I play trumpet). Well, we started playing some music that was from movies that were definitely movies containing impure scenes. I was very scrupulous at that time, and so I considered that me playing the music was in some way leading others into sin. (You know, people hear the music, think of the movie, and think impure thoughts.) So, I quit. Well, now I’m thinking about joining again because I think I was just being scrupulous. What do you all think?

Yes, I think you were just being scrupulous. We played the music from Titanic when I was in high school (Spring semester my Freshman year…that was 10 years ago…oh my, how time flies!). It had an impure scene or two in it- but the music was good and it was fun to play. Unless you’re playing something blatantly satanic, which the band director, in his/her discretion, should not have you guys play, then it’s fine. Band is a great activity to be involved in. Keep up with it!
