Music in heaven?

How can there be music in heaven, if heaven is in eternity, and music requires temporal progression?
I read a NDE that said the music in heaven makes Mozart sound like Rap. Also when the angels sing a tune, it’s only done one time, and after that it’s lost forever, and completely replaced by something new.

The Prophets coined symbols and parables to call the masses towards faith. The masses are generally only familiar with sense and imagination. This is why the afterlife is compared with earthly delights.

Yes! I believe God takes joy in what we take (good) joy in e.g a song, a craft/hobby, a sport, peaceful moments, music, jokes, friends etc.

I’m sure He is beyond my love of British indie music 1989-2005 but He will enjoy my enjoyment in it.

If He could also sort me a bacon sandwich with no harm to piggies (I’m a veggie), that would be grand.

True, but many NDE survivors describe music, and i’m sure there will be. I like Spockrates idea that eternity may be a fifth dimension ( or even higher).
As for food, Jesus ate with the disciples twice after his resurrection, and we’re promised a marriage supper.
So since listening to music and eating are my favorite activities, I’m sure we will have those in heaven. As well as creating things.

Near Death Experiences occur when no brain activity is present, this is verified in peer reviewed studies. This means that it is the soul which has the experience without the body, and no body means no sense organs. I would say that recollection of the NDE is diluted through the imagination of the survivors.

So you’re saying the soul can’t hear music? That doesn’t seem correct. Also the saints in heaven have no bodies yet, but I’m pretty sure they can sense/see/hear/feel things…

What is a fifth dimension?
A five- dimensional space is a space with five dimensions . If interpreted physically, that is one more than the usual three spatial dimensions and the fourth dimension of time used in relativitistic physics. It is an abstraction which occurs frequently in mathematics, where it is a legitimate construct.

In other words, you got me. We know what 4 dimensions are (length, width, height, time) but we don’t know what the fifth might be.

I’ve read of people who had NDEs talk of even the flowers and the trees in heaven emitting their own musical sound .

  1. What is the soul?
  2. What is hearing and by what means does it occur?
  3. What is sound?

Getting a little off-topic here, but theologians have long wondered what it means for a soul to be without a body, or if it is even possible. The human being is both body and soul. Without a body, how can we see or hear? We look forward to the resurrection of the body, but until then, what? It is a question for another thread.

You guys make it sound like an old people’s home. You’ll be wondering about the food next.
Breakfast will be a full English . . . . . . . . It’s in a private revelation somewhere . I heard it sometime or other . I’m sure I did .

Now you did it! I’m hungry! LOL! But where’s the English muffin?
Since we don’t have to worry about calaries and cholesterol, we can eat anything and as much as we want with no problems. I saw that in one of my favorite movies “Defending your life”😎

Angels don’t sing surely, they don’t have bodies or throats or vocal cords do they. Its an analogy. They are really enjoying themselves in communal harmony giving glory to God even if it isn’t really through music!
“And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward man.’”
Angels gotta sing. Even though they are spiritual beings.

The best music is in heaven. But it won’t follow western notation of music or our notions of music theory

Of course there’s music in Heaven.
Beethoven is God’s kapellmeister.

Because the music in heaven won’t be constricted and will make use of all the frequencies and all the microtones possible, whereas western music doesn’t

You yourself said you were aware that Prophets coin symbols. After all, God is at times described as similar in appearance to a man by the Prophets, even though this is not the reality. There is nothing wrong with being satisfied with the apparent meaning of scriptures, but then why bring this topic up in the philosophy section?
