Catholic Z09,I really like Psalm 51 for a processional…
Of Assisi or Xavier, or DeSales?I am changing the processional for Satruday night Mass to “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” I heard that my priest already has the statue of St. Francis up by the altar for the weekend.
St. Francis of Assisi, in support and prayer of His Holiness Pope Francis.Of Assisi or Xavier, or DeSales?
Pope Fransis took the name because of Assisi and not Francis Xavier the Jesuit? I’m sure it is possible. Has the Pope elaborated on this?St. Francis of Assisi, in support and prayer of His Holiness Pope Francis.
Yes, as soon as he took the name, he explained to the cardinal electors that it was in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. Obviously he was aware that being a Jesuit that St. Francis Xavier would come to mind. This was related by Cardinal Dolan. I heard it. You can find the interview online if you want to hear it. I am sorry. I should have mentioned this earlier.Pope Fransis took the name because of Assisi and not Francis Xavier the Jesuit? I’m sure it is possible. Has the Pope elaborated on this?
Hey, thanks! They were differing about this on CAlive the other day. Do you have a quick link for me.Yes, as soon as he took the name, he explained to the cardinal electors that it was in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. That’s wonderful! One of my music directors also used “Prayer of St. Francis” as the recessional.Thought I would bouce back and report on Mass last night. It was great. Everyone seemed full of joy this weekend. After we entered in, Father said that if you did not know why we entered in on that song, you needed to have your Catholic thermometer recalibrated. He gave us in the homily some information on the Holy Father and used a letter from him written to the priests in Buenos Aires in which he used the gospel (cycle C) to explain charity and mercy in dealing with the sinful.

I really do too. Have you heard this particular version?Catholic Z09,I really like Psalm 51 for a processional…
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen:harp:
