I’m sure you’re tired of hearing about the arguments between my brother and I, but I was wondering what is music to you???..

To him all that matters are the lyrics to song, the instrumentation could be utter **** or just nonexistent and still be music, in other words only praise music can be real and good music and is all that matters, I always disagree with him, I think that completely sells music short, and sells short what you are to give to God. I plainly only rely on instrumentation though, vocals don’t matter to me at all, complete and utter instrumentation I think is closer to music and the glory of God then praise music can ever be. Anyway what is your opinion???

Any noise can be a joyful noise unto the Lord. My mom always tells that when I complain that I can’t sing worth squat.

Also, God calls everyone to do different things. We can offer everything good we do to God, regardless of if it is strictly “religious” or not. For example, an artist doesn’t have to do all religious paintings of angels and saints. If an artists does a painting of a hillside or a house or whatever, it is still using their God given talent in a way that pleases God.

In the same way, a musician doesn’t have to include words of praise in their composition. It could be strictly piano or trumpet or whatnot and still be a praise to God. Or a person could sing acapella (without music, just singing) and that would be praise, too.

So, you and your brother are both right. Or maybe you’re both wrong? 😉
