Just thought I’d see who plays what and how long.

I play guitar, been playing for about 2 yrs. Currently taking lessons to force myself to get better.
(I played trombone in jr high band also, but that was LONG ago :D)

I’m trying to get better at finger picking (well everything actually) and playing/singing at the same time.

Hello John…I play guitar and drums.

Currently, my favorite is guitar. I play flat-pick style and play and sing in a bluegrass/gospel bluegrass band with my husband, who plays upright acoustic bass.

happy picking! 😉

I have played piano since I was about 8… that means over 20 years (eeeeeeeek)

I also can play flute, cello and oboe.

I’ve been playing guitar for about 20 Years. (yikes! that seems long!) I play mostly at church these days but have gotten together with friends for casual jams. A friend will be doing some recordings and asked me to play on that so I’ve been playing alot lately to prepare. My first time in a recording studio. :bounce:

I have played violin for 16 years. I’m currently not with any groups or anything. I also taught privately.

I have played guitar for about 30 years. I’m sort of self-taught on piano.

I played pedal steel guitar in country bands for 25 years. I don’t play any more, but I still love to hear one properly played. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a pedal steel at mass. Has anybody?

Hey, Ptero!

I pick bluegrass mandolin! Boy, if Oregon wasn’t such a haul, I’d come an’ join you guys!

🙂

a pilgrim (who also plays guitar, trumpet and a li’l bit o’ keys!)

I play the clarinet and piano. When my son was in NICU, a trio came in a played for the babies every day. For some reason, when I bring out my clarinet, he cries. But both my kids like to help out on the piano.

I am a former semi-professional singer. I was classically trained and once aspired to be a full-time professional opera singer. I got disillusioned with the fact that the industry has more to do with politics than talent, so when I started a family, I backed off. Also I have been a ‘ringer’ for lots of different churches (mostly non-Catholic, but I won’t do anything outside my church anymore) and used to be a leader of song. I really miss singing professionally. Now I have a much better appreciation for my undergraduate days, when I sang all day every day!!! My 5 yo dd sings constantly, and makes up her own songs all the time. I first sat her down at the piano when she was 8 mo. old. I think she inherited my passion for it. Already our 5 month old is crazy about music…a teacher in her daycare class plays the acoustic guitar and sings for the kids all the time…she totally twists her body around to find the guitar and the teacher if she can’t see them…she totally lights up, she’s so excited!😃

I play piano/keyboards, guitar (somewhat) and I sing. Is it appropriate for me now to plug the fact that I’m recording a CD (about half done - all original music)? 🙂

I’m a tuba player. Been playing since ~1974. Played professionally while in HS and College. Played in virtually every ensemble in college all five years (double major, neither one music). Also played in several community bands around here.
Started playing bass guitar in 1978 when the bass player in HS graduated. I’m currently involved on that instrument, both acoustic/electric and electric, in two choirs at church. I use tuba in liturgical settings on special occasions if a score calls for it.

I play guitar, keyboards, accordian for the Irish music,Harmonica, but not all at the same time 😉 oh !!! and I dabble in songwriting.

Well, I was considering even uploading a sample song to my Yahoo! briefcase, if I can figure out how to get the permissions set so you guys can’t go in and send out a bunch of e-mails…

I’m always interested in feedback. Let’s just say it’s not exactly traditional Catholic music…

OK, I think I managed to set up a briefcase. Unfortunately, it looks like it doesn’t allow public file access to non-Yahoo! users. And I have to list allowed Yahoo! “friends” who can access it.

I have uploaded an .mp3 of one of my songs. If anyone wishes to give it a listen, just PM me your Yahoo! ID and I’ll add your ID to the list.

I’ve played guitar for 6 years now, I guess. I enjoy it, but get away from it because of school, unfortunately. Didn’t start playing till I was in high school, but I wish I had learned something at an earlier age. I think learning to play an instrument is something everyone should at least try, and hopefully if/when I ever have kids, I’ll be sure to encourage it.

I’ve been playing guitar and singing in bars and clubs for close to 20 years. Still rockin’ and rolling every weekend with a band and I do an accoustic show on Monday nights as well. I still love playing and am very thankful for the gift of music. I will confess, however, to being a bit tired of playing bars. Sadly, that’s all there is in South Carolina for me to play/ply my trade.

If ya wanna hear what I do on my own away from the band, here’s the title track from my newest CD I peddle on the internet.

visualops.com/stuff/the%20stickman%20-%20the%20promised%20land.mp3

I’d appreciate it if anyone who takes the time to listen would let me know what they think; good or bad:)

I used to sing, but definitely only have a choir voice, if you know what I mean, LOL.

And I used to love to play guitar. I’m embarrassed to say I used to play for guitar Masses. Yikes!

My parents were against music lessons, so, like a typical parent, I plan to have my kids learn at least 2.
