I have an associate who is muslim at work. We get along fairly well. The only violent things he says are against certain politicians. I myself think bad things against them. He seems peacable enough. And he is definitely westernized. I am not sure how to explain or understand the difference between him and the more " muslim " followers of Islam. Anyone have some thoughts on this.

What difference do you mean?

I don’t sense the urgency for islam that others I have known or heard do. He doesn’t wear islam on his sleeve, so to speak. Others I have known are quite vocal

I think a lot of the groups that think their religion justifies violence against people, aren’t really motivated by their particular religion. Instead it’s more political than religious.

Not sure about how “muslim” somebody is or isn’t, but I think many/most muslims don’t really fall into the same category as radicals who are acting on their disagreement with a political or geopolitical issue.

Unfortunately, all religions, including Christians, have folks who do bad things and claim it’s in the name of God.
