Sister Amy, tell me, what was i implying? I asked you to read the classical works of Islamic authors named earlier. You refuse to and then threw in Dante and Milton. Why don’t you compare the works of Dante and Milton alongside the Muslim authors i mentioned and then see how much they differ from one another?

The problem is, you refuse to read from known classical Muslim romanticists - whats there to be afraid of?

Your expectations of me are awfully high. And I haven’t refused to read anything. (But I will refuse now. I’m busy reading books like ‘Imperial Hubris’ and ‘The War on Truth’ and ‘Assault on Reason’ and the 9/11 Commission Report. In addition to a book on the Jurisprudence of the Prophetic Biography. And then some leisure reading on top of all that.)

But didn’t you imply that Islamic creed or law or whatever is based on “Muslim literature?” So I should read them to learn Islam?

That is the same as asking you to learn Christianity by reading “Christian literature,” like Milton or Dante.

How can Islamic creed or law be based on Muslim literature? It is the other way round, but not so its its creed or law but in the flowery languages of the Qur’an depicting young maidens and boys.

Well, Milton and Dante have contributed the thoughts of the commoners of their time through their works. I won’t dispute to that - people do have imaginations, somehow the Muslim imagination embarrasses you and i wonder why?

Cathopologist, i didn’t follow your argument. Are you talking about Islamic literature, books of theology for example, or simply about any-topic books written by muslims?

Rarely have i read books on theology which depict sexual images, but there are several Muslim literature on the subject. Some of whom are famous names in the Muslim world.

the Islamic books dealing with Islam as a religion and written by Islamic scholars many are full of what you’re talking about…i thought you were talking about secular books written by Muslims.

Well, so far i have not come across books from Muslim theologians who glorify sex in their works. Perhaps such books will be banned here, but i have come across Muslim literature which depict such scenes; poems, etc from well known Muslim romanticists.

I wonder why our government doesn’t ban those? 🤷
