6 million Muslims are leaving Isalm in Africa every year for Christianity. Most are converting to Catholicism. Keep in mind that this number does not include a sizable number who are just abandoning religion all together.

In western countries, where converts to Islam do not have as much a fear of being killed for apostacy, about 75% of the converts to Islam leave the religion within 5 years.
I know a few poeple who have done this. They were originally Catholic, converted to Islam and now are back in the CC.
My sons know several Muslim young men who have left Islam. They have been disowned by their families and fear for their safety. (this is in the USA) Their families are from the Middle East.
Once couple I know stayed with Islam for 10 years and left. They apparently were with a group that turned militant. They have been in hiding from that group for about 3 years now. They are family members of mine. Once in a while someone will get a phone call from them. But they will not give contact info to anyone. It’s pretty sad because they have beautiful grandchildren that they are unable to see.

HiI definately don’t agree with people taking the law into their own hands but I do believe that you have to abide by the laws of the country in which you reside, otherwise you should leave that country.
Isn’t it interesting even though capital punishment is the law in most islamic countries for anyone who converts from islam
I agree with the first part of your post.
There is no teaching in Quran to kill a person who converts to other religions, in fact there is a promise in Quran that if somebody leaves Islam, Allah would give Muslims a larger community who converts to Islam who would be better Muslims than the one has left Islam (5:54). Islam/Quran supports freedom of choice of religion to an individual and respects every religion.

The Qur’an tells muslims to kill and go to war to fight for Islam: Quran, chapters (Surahs) 9:5; 2:191; 2:193; 3:118; 4:75,76; 5:33, 8:12; 8:65; 9:73,123; 33:60-62.
Fight for Allah: "And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers, (Quran 2:191).
Muslims are to battle for Allah: “Those who believe do battle for the cause of Allah; and those who disbelieve do battle for the cause of idols. So fight the minions of the devil. Lo! the devil’s strategy is ever weak,” (Quran 4:76).
Kill those against Islam: “The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter,” (Quran 5:33).
Beheading: “When thy Lord inspired the angels, (saying): I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Allah is severe in punishment,” (Quran 8:12).
Allah urges war: “O Prophet! urge the believers to war; if there are twenty patient ones of you they shall overcome two hundred, and if there are a hundred of you they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they are a people who do not understand,” (Quran 8:65).
Slay non-muslims: “Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful,” (Quran 9:5).
Allah urges war: “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination,” (Quran 9:73).
Allah urges war: “O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil),” (Quran 9:123).

HiThe Qur’an tells muslims to kill .
We are discussing things here to get an understanding of both faiths for world peace. We have to make it possible and pleasant to co-exist in this beautiful world, with all the religions, the Jews, the Christians, the Muslim, the Hindus, the Buddhists and Zoroastrians etc, etc, and even with the Atheists/Agnostics.
To understand this let us start from the JesusYeshuaIssa.
The Christians as well as Muslims believe that Jesus was a peaceful person; he always talked with wisdom and tried to convince others with rationality, reasons and arguments. There are no two opinions about Jesus being peaceful. Yet we find following words on record from JesusYeshuaIssa in the Catholic NTBible.
Luke 12:49-51 (NIV)
Not Peace but Division
49"I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed! 51Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.

And I think that you already know that at one time Jesus commanded his Apostles to sell their clothes and buy swords. What do they do with the sword? It is not used to cut vegetables for eating, of course. In spite of all this Jesus is regarded as a peaceful person, I also believe as such. So if things are to be interpreted and clarified for Jesus: why not for Moses, Krishna and Muhammad. There is no harm to understand the true perspective of the events, after all the Catholics are not being suggested to convert to Jews or Hindus or Muslims; they remain steadfast to their faith, and try to understand the things peacefully. Not a big deal.
