In another thread I pointed out some numbers in regards to Islamic terror attacks and Muslim’s religious mandate to convert, subjugate or kill all non-believers. That got me thinking.

As of July 2007 the population of the world was 6,602,224,175 of which 20% are Muslim (And according to Muslims that number is growing in leaps and bounds). Worldwide that is 1,320,444,835 Muslims. Now if we say ¼ of 1% of all Muslims today are extremist (I just went with what I thought a very small minority would be, more on this later.) than we have 33,011,121 murders running amok wanting to kill everyone who does not believe precisely what they do (As a point of reference: according to the 2000 US Census the population of the state of California was 33,871,648). If Muslim extremist make up a very small minority of Muslims or not, 33,011,121 Muslim extremist is a very big problem for humanity as a whole.

Do they make up a small minority? According to Muslim-American activist Kamal Nawash: “We have to come out and admit that we have a problem with extremism… it’s a movement that’s been growing for twenty years throughout the entire Muslim world.” Nawash further claimed that many as fifty percent of Muslims around the world support the goals of the extremists.

50%? That’s 660,222,418 Muslim extremist worldwide! The population of the United States is only 303,144,192. Would so many people downplay this Islamic global threat if all of North America bagan to call for the deaths of the rest of the world?

Something to think about…

Here’s something else scary… Are American schools susceptible to infiltration by Islamic extremists? One almost got hired in an Ohio school board.

George,

Thank-you for the way you began this thread. You have been careful to deliniate between Islam and Muslim extremism. Further, by quoting Kamal Nawash, you have also shown that this extremist movement within Islam is something that even Muslims are themseves concerned about. I commend you for beginning this thread with such balance.

Extremism of any variety is something to be wary of. The violent form that is practiced by some Muslims is downright scary. But we will not be successful in dealing with this element within Islam if we make the mistake of attaching those views to all Muslims and attack Islam as a whole. That would only push, as I fear has already happenend in some cases, previously non-radical Muslims more and more into the extremist camp.

I have been saying for years that this century will see a titanic clash of civilizations—Islam vs. Everybody Else, but I am viewed as an idiot by all those fine folks out there who want to believe that “Islam is a peaceful religion which means us no harm, now go away so we can relax and go back to watching Desperate Housewives.

(shrug)

All you can do is put up the sign reading that the bridge is out. You can’t force them to stop driving towards it.

The world in the year 2100 is going to look a lot different than it did in the year 2000. The major question will be if the West still exists or not; but between miltant threats from without and our own moral filth and hedonistic corruption from within, I don’t hold out a lot of hope.

If we have a clash of civilization between Islam and the free world, I hope that this clash will settle once and for all Muslim dream of one world, one religion under Islam.

You may get your wish if you want to do what the Romans did.😦

Do you?

Mahatma Gandhi, speaking on the character of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), says in (Young India):

"I wanted to know the best of one who holds today’s undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind…I became more than convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet, the scrupulous regard for his pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the 2nd volume (of the Prophet’s biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of the great life."

In reply to a reporter’s question,“What do you think of Western Civilization?”, Mahatma Gandhi replied:

"I think it would be a good idea!"

…I don’t hold out a lot of hope.
You should. It may be difficult…it may be the end of the world or the world may continue for thousands of more years.

You are not alone. The gates of hell will not prevail against the Church and whatever may happen in the near future I have confidence in God. I bet you do too!

Nope. It was the sword. Who wrote the biography he was reading?

I am not sure what you mean when you say there is a difference between Islam and Muslim extremists. Some Muslims are practising Jihad and others are contemplating doing so or are sympathetic to it. The numbers are huge and the cause is Islam as directed by the Koran and no amount of do good sugar coating will change that. The Muslims who are peaceful are peaceful and very QUIET. This is for good reason as violence against those who would criticise Jihad is common…ask Ali Hirsi. We can do nothing to help ourselves by denying there is a problem or sticking our heads in the sand.

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”

I have confidence in God and I do believe that the Church will prevail until Christ returns.

However, the Church may be vastly smaller, much more centralized—or fragmented, and heavily persecuted before that happens. And Western Civilization may disappear entirely.

I hope not. But one never knows.

You need to individually ask all your relatives and friends.

Chances are that there are now a number of “closet Muslims” among them… if indeed they are not already declaring themselves openly.

Who then is showing the sword to these hordes of new Muslims in the West?

Fiction, pure fiction! Didn’t Muhammad state that he had been made victorious by terror??

Gandhi was killed in 1948 (by an extremist no less). Do you think he would say the same about Islam if he was alive today? How would he have viewed 9/11/03? He preached equality, non-violence and religious freedom. Is that compatible with Islam?

Please let’s stick to the subject and not try and change it to Western Civilization or the lack thereof. The topic is Muslim extremists.

Was it not you who reminded us all here that actions speak louder than words? What about the actions of Muslim extremists? Are not their action having a greater impact on the perception of Islam than your words?

Are you denying we have a problem with Muslim extremists?

That is a lot of questions, the first three rhetorical, but I would like your responses to the rest. Simple yes or no will suffice.

Gandhi wasnt a historian but a peacemaker. And yet his praises for Mohammad failed to prevent the splitting of India.

many of the new converts were attracted to Islam’s violent nature. Look at the lslamist terrorists, there are many converts among them. the dc sniper, the shoe bomber, the black shiek in london, etc. so yeah the sword still has its role in promoting islam. 😃

Ok, that made me laugh. Are the Muslims kicking gays out of the closet now or joining them in there? Strange bed-fellows indeed.
Who then is showing the sword to these hordes of new Muslims in the West?
Who shows anything to Moslems? Mohamed and the Quran. There you will find the sword and permission to use it- if you but know.

A side question for you: If two lesbians dressed in revealing clothing were to walk into a mosque during Friday prayers- openly, in the mens section- not where you make women hide behind a curtain…if they walked in and started praying with you but in a mocking way…what would your/other Muslims reaction be? Let’s say they did it in a New York mosque. What if it were in a Cairo mosque?

I mean simply that there are followers of Islam, who have a whole host of conflicting poltical views, other than their unanimity in wanting the whole world to become Muslim just as Ann Coulter and I want the whole world to become Christian. And then there are individuals who call themselves Muslims, but seek to practice a type of Jihad that is repudiated by all true Muslims. This second groups has about as much in common with real Islam as does the Westboro Baptist Church or the KKK has with true Christianity. All these groups claim to use the sacred scriptures of the religion they have co-opted to arrive at their viewpoint, but what they do shows that they do not truly undersrtand what they read.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that they haven’t been able to make an appeal to others who are as ignorant as they themselves are. And it doesn’t mean they aren’t dangerous. It just means that they are NOT genuine representatives of any actual faith.
