Okay I mean not to argue, but this has sparked my curiousity. Okay I am from South Louisiana. There is quite a bit of voodoo down here, so if the African slaves were Moslems then why did they bring voodoo? BTW I am not saying voodoo is rampant because its not, but it has its place to where it thrives. God speed.
Not all Muslims, especially in other cultures knew better. However black magic or voodoo was practiced by the witch Dr’s, therefpre it is a part of the cultural background

Not all Blacks were Muslims but 90 % were.
Are you saying that 90% of all Africans forced into slavery were Muslim? This is a startling statement. If you learned this in school, you may not have the text handy, but I am wondering on what authority is this rather extreme number based?
(I’m arriving to this thread late, and apologize to the earlier posters for not addressing their concerns)

yeah your right unfortunatly I dont remember the exact text or number. The book actually said like 91. or 90.1 but I can’t remember and I had a house fire in 2004 and lost all my books 😦 but thats not the biggest…well yea anyway back to subgect…

The teacher said it was also becuase some Arabs had Africans as slaves also.

I guess everyone had a go with those poor people. Not only race wise but religion wis also

Sorry, I aint buying it. Have you ever heard of passing down traditions from one generation to another? Thats not to say that a small minority may have had an up bringing in Islam but if it were as prominent as you want us to believe then we certainly would have seen major evidences in their culture and writings. After the Civil War many blacks were elected to houses of congress. What an opportunity to voice their Islamic voices. But did they? Nope.

Heres what I think: The slaves that were bought and sold in Africa were slaves of African Muslim overlords who owned the lands that these former African slaves toiled in themselves. Maybe some of the Muslim slave owners faith filtered down to their slaves prior to them being sold to white European slave traders. This would make more sense.
I see you do not know much about history? Well keep your money and don’t buy it, so that it’ll be available for the knowledge seekers to buy.
How can there be major evidence in culture and writting when people were being lynched for practcing their cultures and speaking their own language etc?

Civil War in America is recent stuff Mr. Educator. I’m going all the way back to the root of things. You said MANY Blacks were elected? Maybe what you call many and what I call many differ. I guess because Colin Powell and Condo made it to SOS, this means many Blacks made it to the topn American politics.

What you ‘THINK’ doesn’t matter and I will not comment on that when there are obvious recorded and well pondered and calculated proofs.

Because some one is Muslim doesn’t mean that they do not practice voodo. African culture. People do not revert to Islam and drop everything in their culture. In LA it’s actually a slight different, and it’s called Hoodu. Not Voodo. Check out the movie Skeleton Key.

That is not true. Which of the crew were Muslim? Don’t tell us the Pinzon brothers were Muslims or Rodrigo de Triana was a Muslim. They were Catholics.
Take up a well known book called Roots, written by Alex Haley, which has actual documents that prooves all or at least most of what I am saying here, then come back and disguss this with the rest of us educators. If not sit back and just ask questions. You are wasting precious Ramadaan time here.

In another thread you mentioned you are a police officer in New York. Thats a profession I have a lot of respect for and I commend you for that.
However if its like police in other countries pay is unfortunately not great and neither do they get much time off. I was just wondering how you manage to travel and talk to people worldwide. The way you have worded it makes it sound like you do this regularly and extensively. I’m curious to know where you have been and how often so we can judge if your opening para makes sense!
I work part time for a private investigation comany that is linked to the NYPD. In this day and age, we don’t need to travel to Mexico to speak to a Mexican. Let’s act intelligent here and not go off topic please.

Thanks for you nice remarks.

hey SAD, be nice

Dispite your stupidity, blindness and ignorance. You are my brother and I like you just for that, so I’m going to help you out here. I also like your defense of Christianity, but you have to have knowledge in order to do this, ok?

Here is the favor: Look at the quote you quoted in post 13.

Take care Flare!
Hello Sufi,

I could see that you are defending your belief and you are considering others as your brothers. This is what all should do. However, if we show lack of love, it will never work. Calling others “liar” or “stupidity” does not do any good for you, others, and your own religion.

The most common between all religions is LOVE - before one can defend his own religion, one must define Love and live by it, and many others come with love.

Sufi, read your own messages over again and again, and see it for yourself if you are showing Love for others - or are you really considering others as your brothers?

Respect others Sufi or you are only demaging yourself and your belief!

You said you spoke to people worldwide. Talking to people worldwide means extensive travelling to these countries otherwise you cannot know what is truly going on there. Speaking to someone from other countries who all live in New York just doesn’t cut it.

slaves from West Africa were also Muslims.
Your making seem like all the Africans brought over as slaves were Muslims and that’s not the truth. I’m pretty sure that there were some enslaved Muslim sub-Saharan Africans but their numbers are miniscule. The religion of those slaves brought over was that of their corrsponding culture, for example, Yoruba. The evidience is not only in the history books, but the culture of the black people of the Caribbean and South America. It’s interesting that Muslims began buying and selling of African slaves about 600 years before Europeans did and continued to do so 100 years after.
