Someone from another site said that Jesus said “Muslim” in Luke 6:40. I looked it up and found no “Muslim”.

“The disciple is not above his master: but every one shall be perfect, if he be as his master.” DRV
“The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.” KJV

He quoted this from a Muslim forum:
“The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is Muslim shall be as his master.”

First I was like, “no way! Really? Muslim wasn’t even founded during that time!” There was a person who spoke Hebrew and said that “Mushlam” means “perfect”.

Then I decided to look it up on google. No other site I saw explained this except one from a Muslim website:

Now I was like, “wtf (what the freak)? A Christian could read this and be drawn to it.”

Mark A16:

I’m not sure what the Muslims are getting at, but the Jews in Judea and Samaria spoke ARAMAIC, and the Hebrew Torah and HapTorah Sections were read along with their Aramaic Translations which were called “Targums”.

Lev 22:21 ESV
And when anyone offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering from the herd or from the flock, to be accepted it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it.

The Hebrew Word for “Perfect” here Tansliterates as Tamiym and pronounces as Taw-meem’ (StudyLight - Strong’s Number 08549).

2 Sam 22:31 ESV
This God–his way is perfect;the word of the LORD proves true;he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
(in spite of different translation - “Blameless” - in New American Standard Bible w/ Strongs Concordance - Is still Tamiym / Taw-meem’)

Psalm 19:7
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
(Tamiym / Taw-meem’)

Just to rule it out, I looked up the words in Greek:
Pupil/Disciple - Mathetes - math-ay-tes’
Teacher/Master - Didaskalos - did-as’-kal-os
Trained/Discipled - Katartizo - kat-ar-tid’-zo

I have no idea as to where the posters on the Islamic Websote could have gotten that the “Leader” was a translation of “Mushlim”, but it just isn’t there.

“Mushlam” meant “perfect” according to them. But I hear ya. 🙂

Mark:

That’s what I meant to say, but it was getting late, and I was getting tired.

I hope the Hebrew and Greek were clear - There just was no way “Mushlam” could mean “Perfect” in either of those 2 languages.

Probably the hardest thing for Muslims to understand, or accept, is that of a loving Father-God who gives Himself to, and, saves His children and makes promises and covenants with those children that He is then bound by.

Scot Hahn recently related a story where a Muslim debater refused to debate him when Dr. Hahn refused not to refer to the above.
