So I suggest to inJesus not to indulge in such reports. Come to the Quran. There is no sin in marrying the ex-wife of an adopted son. The adopted son is not a real son. Also the un-real begotten son (Jesus) is also not a son. There is no harm to divorce any wife if things (reconcilliation) do not work out. There is no harm to marry any divorced lady. All the teachings of church in this regard are false. They are not good teachings and they are based on gross misunderstanding.

Perhaps the christians want to keep tied up the sick and unfit couples tied up for life time. That would be a big burden (cruelty) on the ladies and gents. jesus lived an un-natural life. He did not get married and went away. he was about 33 years old and still was not married. Why? Was he not a 100% man as some friends are telling us here on this forum? It does not show that he was 100 % man. And we already know that he was not a god. So what was he (Jesus)?
In Christianity we have what we call, ‘higher calling’. Do you know what it is? Does Islam has this?

It is just not morally right, regardless of what Jesus’ teaching is on divorce and marrying a divorced person. Mohammad made it right because of Allah revelation’s to him and so that became an Islamic position.

I think all explanations on why it is not right are resonable. The only thing now that made it ok is because of Allah’s revelation at that moment to say it’s ok.
I feel that inJesus, you are unreasonable, the odd one out. When people used to marry and remarry in the past, when God Jesus allowed polygamy to Abraham and jacob and many others then how could he change his mind so suddenly for the Jews and entire world?

The divorce was also allowed by the God Jesus in the past. He was god and allowed divorce. How could he ban it? Can you explain all your mistakes please. Then we will talk about other things.

No divorce is ever allowed, not by Jesus, not by God.

Mohammad married a divorced woman looks quite self-serving. Mohammad had intercourse with slaves looks self-serving too.

When a man and woman are married they become one flesh and blessed by God.

What God put together, let’s no man separates.

Planten, Jesus Christ himself answers questions such as yours in Mark 10:1-9. The custom was as it was because of the hardness of the peoples’ hearts, but in the beginning God created man and woman so that they may be together, not to be separated by any man.

This means Muhammad’s actions with regard to the situation under discussion are flat out wrong. There’s no other way to put it.

actually not simply wrong but sinful. He had desire for a married woman. God who says “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”, and God who says do not covet someone else’s woman, suddenly tells Muhammad he must not conceal his desire to a married woman. How can both be from God? it’s exactly like God saying he swears only by Himself since no one is higher than Him supposedly is the same who swears by Muhammad, making Muhammad superior to God (auzhubillah).

The only thing that makes this marriage ok is believing it was from God and not questioning it, in addition to giving a blind eye to previous scriptures. But ask any Christian or any one walking on the street about it, and you’ll get similar answers that is why all of us on this forum see it as immoral/wrong/unacceptable/opposing scriptures except Muslims, though am sure deep down they question it as well since i read many Muslim posters frustrated by this and asking about it in other forums. Muhammad knew the implications of what will happen but instead of restraining his desire, he made Allah give a prompt revelation condoning having desire to a married woman in order to teach others that men can marry their adopted son’s wives since these sons aren’t biological. Did Muhammad have to do all this to teach something? Who buys it except Muslims?

Both the posts of inJesus and algebra above are false, incorrect and malafide. Tabari could not be any authority. No need to trust Tabari. if we Muslims go to the Jews and ask them something about Jesus and his mother Mary, they will tell us a lot of things about them. Then if we post those things on this forum the christians, inJesus etc. will not be happy.

Then why when you ask Christians things about Jesus, you deny them as well? The only authorities you seem to recognize are the ones that toe the company line.

So if a man does not get married he is not a man? SO Muhammed, who married many times was a great man? How about this: Jesus role on earth was BIGGER than making time for a family? How aabout this: Jesus had self control? How can it be unnatural to dedicate your life to God?

I take offense to what you said. You are calling Jesus demonic.
Everything he says is offensive, and yet he is still allowed to post on here. And you got Jesus loving people like Angelos who has never offended anyone, whose account is under review… go figure…

Tabari for Muslims is like Jews to Christians? Planten, a brotherly advice, work on your analogies.

I think you guess wrong.

The marriage was arranged undoubtedly by some who thought they would make a happy couple. Remember that Zaynab was not happy with the arrangment either. Why people always discount her view makes no sense to me, except as an expression of misogyny. That her opinion didn’t count for some reason.
What I have read is Muhammed approached Zeinab and said “Praised be Allah, who changes men’s hearts!” Zeinab told this to Zayd who divorced her to stay out of the way. As often happened Allah then gave Muhammed a personal revelation concernng the matter. “So when Zaid had accomplished what he would of her, then we gave her in marriage to thee, so that there should not be any fault in the beleivers, touching the wives of adopted sons, when they accomlished what they would of them; and God’s commandment must be performed.”

She was added to the believed 15 - 25 wives he had. This included a 7 year old girl, Aisha, that he consumated the relationship with at 9 years old.

Interesting when he was sleeping with an Egyptian woman and all of his wives became angry he had another personal revelation from Allah. Do not restrain “that which Allah has made lawful to you” just to appease wives. He banished them for a month and only allowed them back if they asked for forgiveness. I do not believe he was married to this Egyptian woman. Although it is my understanding that Muhamed allowed concubines. Is it lawful to put a concubine ahead of a wife?

ROFL

Y’know Amy, far be it for me to tell you what to take seriously, since I"m sure that you as a Muslim place as much credence in the opinions of the Christians here as I do in the crackpot theory of Parsurrey that Jesus travelled to India with Mary after the crucifixion (I had a similar “ROFL” experience reading that…couldn’t help myself), but I think it would probably be good to get some sort of answer at least to the one question that is actually in that post. I have heard that story before about Muhammad and this Egyptian woman (or at least one like it, where Muhammad cheats on his wife in their bed with a Coptic servant of his), so I would definitely like to know how or why this behavior is acceptable. The only one I have heard so far is that Muhammad is a prophet so he is allowed to do what normal people are not allowed to do. That seems like a pretty lame excuse for such shameful behavior, and I trust that you can come up with something a little more substantial than that.

So can you please answer the question?

From P J,
Although it is my understanding that Muhamed allowed concubines. Is it lawful to put a concubine ahead of a wife?
A short reply to P J, please ask this question from your predecessors, your seniors, your leaders (Imams), i.e. the Jews first. Whatever reply you get from them, let us know about that. You seem to have their book (OT) attached with your book (NT).

It should not be difficult for you to find an answer. The King David was not an ordinary person, He was the predecessor of your lord Jesus. He had more than one wife, even a very young wife to heat him up in very old and cold age…

Then please attend to the life of King Soloman, not an ordinary person, who had 300 wives and 1000 concubines. Please sort out your problem with your senior superior fellows and then refer the result to us Muslims so that we become wise. Thanks.

I accept King David and Soloman as prophets, the righteous persons. So whatever they did is all well to me. What about you?

I am happy to know that paarsurrey is back. We may learn something from him/her.

What does anything that a Jew (or did, historically) or Christian do have to do with what a Muslim does? We do not follow the same laws. This question was about Muslim laws. Stop trying to divert everyone’s attention. This isn’t how to answer the question.

You should always think before you post something: “How does what I am about to post help the person who is asking the question?” Telling a Christian who is wondering about Islam to go ask a Jew is nonsense and doesn’t help anyone.

Let see, Mr. planten, since this is your answer to the question posed.

David did what was sinful and he repented. He put on sack cloth, fasted and repented in front of the altar of God. He realized his mistake.

Solomon’s empire crumbled as a result of the in-fighting of the wives and the children of his many wives. Actually the seed of discord was already planted during David’s time where his wives carried out outrageous deeds to outdo each other and to further their own agenda within the kingdom.

The righteousness of both men was not due to the many wives they had but for their obedience to God for which they were mightily blessed; and for the many wives they had, they were cursed as we can see by the fractured of their kingdom and power after they lived.

Now since you believe in this therefore I take it you believe that Mohammad’s legacy had been cursed due to his sinful and unscrupulous action of taking many wives and concubines which God frowned at. No wonder, even at Mohammad’s death bed, his relatives were already squabbling over his power and wealth. What a prophet’s legacy and a religion you have.

Other Muslims please take note this is for the eyes of our good friend Mr. planten only. Thanks.

BTW, in a nutshell, Jesus came to fix those things which were not right. We don’t have to asked our former Imams the Jews. They crucified Jesus, remember?

We ask Jesus, the King, the High Imam and our Teacher. Nothing less than Jesus. All others were insignificant, nothing, not even close when you have Jesus. Why ask them and not Jesus is really beyond me.

What does anything that a Jew (or did, historically) or Christian do have to do with what a Muslim does? .
many ( if not most ) non-Muslims attack Islam in such a way as if Islam introduced polygamy , war , slavery etc etc. They totally ignore the fact that their own holy book allowed all these.
