…He realized his mistake.
I guess , he did that after killing of the husband of bathsheba ?

I don’t think , Jesus (p) scolded him for marrying a young virgin when he was at his death bed or Jesus (p) was angry when David (p) cutted the private parts of the dead soldiers as a gift to his would be dad-in-law.
Solomon’s empire crumbled as a result of the in-fighting of the wives and the children of his many wives. .
Solomon(p) took some foreign wives , that was not allowed for him ( if I correctly remember now ). Polygamy was not banned by Jesus (p) then.

Anyway , Muslims respect both David & Solomon( peace be upon them ). We don’t believe they committed any major sins.

But God disagreed. He did not allow David to build the temple and he took one of his sons from him as punishment. Solomon suffered the warth of God for consulting with the Witch of Endor.

God thought that what they had done was horrible. Why do Muslims not?

holy Quran does mention that Moses (p) killed a man but it was an accident & he sincerely repented for that . Adam (p) forgot the command of God , Prophet Jonah/ Yunus (p) became impatient & did not wait for God’s permission & left the place ; later repented while inside the fish etc etc. It means Prophets were not above mistakes.

But what the Bible brings charges against David , Solomon , Lut (pbut) , those are totally unacceptable .

A short reply to P J, please ask this question from your predecessors, your seniors, your leaders (Imams), i.e. the Jews first. Whatever reply you get from them, let us know about that. You seem to have their book (OT) attached with your book (NT).

It should not be difficult for you to find an answer. The King David was not an ordinary person, He was the predecessor of your lord Jesus. He had more than one wife, even a very young wife to heat him up in very old and cold age…

Then please attend to the life of King Soloman, not an ordinary person, who had 300 wives and 1000 concubines. Please sort out your problem with your senior superior fellows and then refer the result to us Muslims so that we become wise. Thanks.

I accept King David and Soloman as prophets, the righteous persons. So whatever they did is all well to me. What about you?

I am happy to know that paarsurrey is back. We may learn something from him/her.
Wife is different than concubines. Muhammed had concubines. Please answer the question. Does Islam allow concubines or not?

Sorry to tell you that the posting I had is from several books I have that have sources detailing this. You may think it untrue; however, they are facts. We know most of Muhammed’s life and these incidencts occurred. I am hopeful that Muslim classes are teaching about these events. If he is a prophet they should be easily explained.

Truth mixed with falsehood. There is some truth… and some distortion. The fact that you wrote it all together suggests to me that you can’t tell the difference.

And I think that is pretty hilarious. I wonder what books you’re getting it from. LOL.

Tell me what books do you have? I am posting statements from historians. I see your opinion. Can you provide a source to refute my historians?

I posted from one of the books earlier and gave you Title and Author. These thoughts are not limited I have others books that state the same thing. Again can you provide a book that states something else?

what i find utterly bizarre if that Jews “corrupted” their scriptures by maligning their own prophets…go figure.

So now the facts don’t matter to you, only the sources?

You said Muhammad had “15-25” wives. I’m curious where you pulled that out. You said Aisha was 7 when married to Muhammad, also not true. I think there was something else you said that was also not true but I haven’t gone back to check.

I’m not interested in debating with you, so don’t be surprised if I let this conversation just drop–I have three books which cover the biography of Muhammad. No God but God (a book I really don’t like by a scholar of religious/islamic studies in western universities, Reza Aslan), Muhammad: His life based on the earliest sources by Martin Lings, and the Jurisprudence of the Prophet Biography by M. Sa’id Ramadan al-Buti.

And it’s not really necessary to refer to these even, and I don’t for conversations here. Common knowledge is all that’s needed to oppose your claims.

P J, Islam does not allow concubines and Muhammad never had any. But your religion (religious book) allows it as I mentioned about the King Soloman.

About marriage and concubines please see the direct teachings of the Quran:

[5:5] This day all good things have been made lawful for you. And the food of the people of the Book is lawful for you. And your food is lawful for them. And lawful for you are chaste believing women and chaste women from among those who were given the Book before you, when you give them their dowries, contracting valid marriage and not committing fornication, nor taking secret paramours (concubines, mistresses). And whoever rejects the faith, his work indeed is vain, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers

mohammed had a coptic concubine with whom he had a son.

its common knowledge amongst muslims.

It is common practice in Saudi Arabia for arab men to have somali concubines (if they can afford them).

They do not marry the women, because arabs can be the illiterate racist bunch.

Anyway here is some reference material

Question:

There is no doubt that Mariyah al-Qibtiyyah was the concubine of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and she bore him his son Ibraaheem. Can the title of “Mother of the Believers” be given to Mariyah al-Qibtiyyah or not?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) DID NOT MARRY MARIYAH AL-QIBTIYYAH, RATHER SHE WAS A CONCUBINE who was given to him by al-Muqawqis, the ruler of Egypt. That took place after the treaty of al-Hudaybiyah. Mariyah al-Qibtiyyah was a Christian, then she became Muslim (may Allaah be pleased with her).

Ibn Sa’d said:

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) lodged her – meaning Mariyah al-Qibtiyyah and her sister – with Umm Sulaym bint Milhaan, and the Messenger of Allaah (S) entered upon them and told them about Islam. He took Mariyah AS A CONCUBINE and moved her to some property of his in al-‘Awaali… and she became a good Muslim.

Al-Tabaqaat al-Kubra, 1/134-135

Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr said:

Mariyah died during the caliphate of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab, in Muharram of 16 AH. ‘Umar gathered the people himself to attend her funeral, and he led the funeral prayer for her. She was buried in al-Baqee’.

Al-Isti’aab, 4/ 1912

Mariyah (may Allaah be pleased with her) WAS ONE OF THE PROPHET’S CONCUBINES, NOT ONE OF HIS WIVES. The Mothers of the Believers are the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The Prophet is closer to the believers than their ownselves, and his wives are their (believers’) mothers (as regards respect and marriage)”

[al-Ahzaab 33:6]

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had four concubines, ONE OF WHOM WAS MARIYAH.

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

Abu ‘Ubaydah said: HE HAD FOUR (CONCUBINES): MARIYAH, who was the mother of his son Ibraaheem; Rayhaanah; another beautiful slave woman whom he acquired as a prisoner of war; and a slave woman who was given to him by Zaynab bint Jahsh.

P J, I would recommend to you two books:
  1. “The 100 greatest men of the World”. (Search the web and you will get it easily).
  2. “Bible, Science and Quran”, by maurice buicalle…

Be warned about the first one. It was written by an engeneer who buys into the concept that Paul founded the Christian faith. Anything written by a historically dishonest heretic working outside of his field must be taken with a grain of salt.
