wow, an Islamic record !, maybe he was jealous of the 23 women that Muhammed had!

The sources of Islam calculate only the wives of Muhammed excluding concubine or any other type of marriage, so you can say he had 12 actual wives plus 11 concubines, so a total of 23 women in his life time.

You are wrong.polygamy is always polygamy.so there are no difference between 23 women for a lifetime and 86 for one time.do you think that if a man took 23 women then was it a very good manner?:rolleyes:

Honestly guys, would you want to put up with two, let alone 86?

Funnily enough, the first person I heard that argument from was a Muslim sheikh being interviewed on television 🤷

He needs to look out. He is correct and that makes Muhammed one of the two.
 
He has been told to divorce 82 of them by an Islamic court and he has refused, stating that he loves them all and what’s more, he is looking to marry some more. He has also receive death threats for his refusal.

Nagging aside, how can he afford to support all these women and children, I believe the last count was around 170? Moreover, the man himself is 84 years old!! :confused:

This is a good question, Linda Marie. Isn’t it ordered in Islam that the man only take more than one wife if he is able to care for them all equally?I don’t understand how this would be possible, in this case. I mean, obviously this is a statistical outlier (I have read that something like only 2% of Islamic marriages are polygamous, though I have no idea how true that is), but seriously…this is just crazy! I can’t see how this is good for anyone involved. 😦

I wonder if polygamy is more common in some parts of the Islamic world than others, and what countries is it most common in? Nearly all of my friends from SA say their fathers have 2 or 3 wives.

Here in Saudi Arabia its certainly more than that ;), we have common practice here “aka Urf”, if you have extra money then you should get second, third, and fourth wife, its all for the sexual pleasure. 🤷

Its really sad :(, I’m hearing very sad stories from my mother and sister about their female friends whom their husbands married again over them, those Muslim men are only after their sexual pleasure and they least care for the emotions of their wives.:dts:

However, when it comes to polygamy, there are two types of people that I have encountered throughout my life, those who fully implement what the Islamic dogma allowed, and those who respect human emotions and truly love their wives and don’t take other wives beside them.

Throughout my life in Islam I always rejected that polygamy, I always asked my Muslim colleagues who wanted to marry again and again, would you accept your wife taking another husband beside you?

I really can’t imagine how someone can allow such pain & sorrow to his wife because he want to fulfill his sexual desire, they concentrate on the sexual part of the marriage and forget the most important part which is love.

No polygamy & even bigamy for me !!
