In relation to Islam and integration…Unfortunately I think I’s more likely that this is going the other way and we will need governments to stand up to this in the years to come.

My father is Muslim and I’m quite well versed in the Islamic faith. It cannot be passed off as a religion of peace. We need to understand that in order to …
Stand up how?

I do agree that it is misleading for someone to say that “Islam is a religion of peace.” That is not borne out in its early history, certainly not to the degree that it is in early Christianity (a religion of martyrs rather than warriors after all).

However, it is equally dangerous to assume that Muslims are all fanatics, or that all or even most of them dream of reviving the Caliphate (quite frankly, most Muslims in the increasingly overpopulated middle east are probably too busy trying to find a job and a wife to care). It is also harmful to treat them fearfully or to socially or institutionally discriminate against them.

I think we’re more or less on the same page. I also see that you’re an aspiring Domimican. I have no doubt that you and your order will be instrumental in the strengthening of our faith. 🙂 Bless you.

Further replies on my part will have to wait til tomorrow, it’s past my bedtime 😉 just wanted to let you know I’m not ignoring your post Suraya.

From where does your father come from? Do you or your father speak Arabic?
I would just like to know (sorry Middle-Eastern behaviour :p).
I’m Irish but my dad is Algerian.

I will be a Dominican novice in Sept. Please keep me in your prayers. Islam and other faiths are an interest of mine. I do speak with muslims in Ireland on a regular basis.

🙂

Hi Adam I have some very interesting news for you. Stay tuned!

How does he feel about your conversion? By the way, I hope the best for you as a Dominican and may God protect you :gopray2: On a side note, are you going anywhere particularly?
Thanks.

I don’t think I’m going anywhere right now.

Suraya,

What collection of Hadith are you drawing these from?

Do you honestly believe that your average Muslim intends or wants to invade Rome?

And I remain unconcerned, mostly because of the 4th bullet point I posted.

I’m also unconcerned because as a Christian I don’t lend predictions in the Hadith much credence.
I found this site which has the postings in it.

Gotta go to work, but thank you for posting this. A few words on hadith:

Hadith are NOT necessarily authoritative in Islam because there are often questions about their authenticity. They are essentially simply “oral traditions,” which medieval scholars collected in books. Many hadith are contradictory (it follows that not all of them are sayings of the prophet). The study of hadith is a vast and complicated science within Islamic theology. I’m not a hadith scholar myself, but if you google the book that the first hadith on that list comes from (كتاب الفتن, or Kitaab al-Fitan), you will note that the very same website you link to notes in big bold letters that:

Many of the Hadiths & Athar in this book are considered weak.

My point is, once again, that not all Muslims or even necessarily most Muslims accept these as true. At most these are today considered along the lines of the Book of Revelation in the sense that we have no idea who or what they are referring to, though it has something to do with the endtimes. Christians may just as easily call Iran the antichrist and it would mean more or less the same thing.

Not really trying to change anyone’s opinion here, the fact is that hadith are an integral part of Islamic theology. That said, it would behoove us to approach them as they are… oral traditions that are not necessarily accepted by all or most Muslims and which are all subject to scrutiny.

Hi. Whether in the Hadiths do they have the sacrifice of Ishmael? Because I understand that the Quran isn’t clear which son…Isaac or Ishmael.

The more people, the more people we can bring Christ to!

Be not afraid of your neighbor. Love him so much that you bring Christ to him.

Being a former Muslim I will say this. Islam is the fastest growing religion by births not conversion. This whole issue is a scare tactic from Muslim and a encouragement method on peace by liberals. I am not worried because they never mention the amount of Muslims who convert to Atheism and Christianity 😃
