Hi
I do not have the authority to limit God’s mercy but as I understand our religion and it’s tenants, when you die outside of Christ’s flock…you are lost. Praying for someone after their death may not help them but it can’t hurt either. I hope I understood your question. I personally don’t waste my prayer time on departed murderers of innocent people. A more effective use of prayers might be that the terrorist see the evil of their ways before they die or better yet before they kill.🤷
you got my point perfectly , what you said is exactly the meaning of this verse

It is not fitting, for the Prophet and those who believe, that they should pray for forgiveness for Pagans, even though they be of kin, after it is clear to them that they are companions of the Fire.

it’s useless

Hi Elwill 👍

I see really in your above post two issues which need to be resolved.
  1. You asked if the Christian God wants us to pray for non-believers, am I right? In Christianity we are called to pray for all people, irrespective of religion or political views. We are told that we must love and pray even for our enemies and that includes terrorists, murderers and all human beings. Nobody is beyond forgiveness in this life and as Christians it our God-given duty to pray for the souls of others, that they come into the light of Christ’s sanctifying love and taste the true peace of the living God in their hearts, the peace that is true peace, the peace that the word Islam claims to bring, ‘the peace that comes from submission to the will of allah’ that is essentially the meaning of ‘Islam’. And yet Islam is not that peace. That peace is the Lord Jesus Christ who said:
Matthew 5.44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you
my question is about **someone allready dead **in faith other than christianity

How was Michael Jackson a Pagan anyways, lol?

Whoever’s the one that said one was hellbound probably just did not like the man. 🙂

Those who can’t pray for themselves need us to pray for them.

As God once said to Saint Faustina, “…Do not grow weary of praying for sinners. You know what a burden their souls are to My heart. Relieve My deathly sorrow; dispense My mercy.”

"The loss of each soul plunges Me into mortal sadness. You always console Me when you pray for sinners. The prayer most pleasing to Me is the prayer for the conversion of sinners."

yes i got what you mean , but let me verify from something
what is the prayer which deads may need ? you know and i know that the prayer will be for fogiveness and mercy and salvation upon him in his second life . is that right ?

well , do you think that when a christians ask forgivness for an athiest , will God accept thier prayer ? if it yes then i can say that christ not the only way for salvation
if the answer is no , then your prayer not exceed the meaning of respect

tell me what is the view of christianity about this point . please
well that is a good question

i dont know what is the catholic view about it

but let say that i did pray for a dead Atheist asking god to have mercy on him

do you think mercy is sending him to heaven ? No i am just asking god to bless a soul of a dead person and have mercy on him , because only god knows what is in the heart

moreover we dont know what is god mercy exactly because god is unlimited !therefore it is ok to pray for anyone because we know that god is Mercy

we will ask god to have mercy on all mankind because god told us pray and love even your enemy

so we are wont able to define what is a god mercy but we will continue pray

i remmember michael voris (from real catholic tv) was talking about magic and aleister crowley and said god bless his soul !! and we all know that aleister crowley is satanic but it’s not a sin to pray for dead and bad people because they are now in god hand

i hope that you get my point

We must pray for for those who have died to accept God’s mercy. God will not tell us, “your prayer was too late, it is invalid”. In the Bible, He said that he hears and begins to answer our prayers before we even say them. God created time. He isn’t limited by it like we are.

Well he was a Jehovah’s Witness. So definitely not a Christian unless he recieved a Trinitarian baptism.

His conversion to Islam amounted to rumours.

He wasn’t a Jew.

Pagan is probably an apt description.

He believed in God though.

Praying for everyone is the good, loving, and Christian thing to do. Does it mean God will answer? We don’t know in this life, but praying for anyone only means that we want the best for that person and that only God knows that person’s heart and the ONLY judge. By not praying, only shows that we care not.

however I think Christianity sometimes gets a little above themselves.
What do you mean by that, exactly?
And what’s up wit this… from Paul
If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is consecrated through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is consecrated through her husband.
So an Atheist is saved because his wife is faithful? O rly?

You seem to have misunderstood. St. Paul is not saying that a believing wife gives a pagan man a free ticket into Heaven. Rather, for example, are you familiar with Servant of God Elizabeth Leseur? The faithful witness of her Catholic faith eventually brought her bitterly atheistic husband into the Church, as a priest no less! (After she died, of course.)

The believing spouse can lead the unbelieving spouse to Christ.

And to add on here… I’m kinda the other way around here, I’m Catholic heading into a direction toward Islam. Mainly because I have doubts believing Jesus was God. And I do not see really how the ‘God of Islam’ or the ‘God of Christianity’ differ as it’s kinda getting implied in this thread. I believe God loves those who love him. I think Jesus stood his ground and meant what he said. I wholeheartedly believe God is love however I think Christianity sometimes gets a little above themselves.
Just make sure you study fully so you know what you are getting into. In my experience new converts don’t start getting into the ‘meat’ so to speak of Islam right away. It sounds great while you are learning and it’s all new… But there is no freedom in Islam like the freedom the Christians/Catholics have in Christ. I found it all very restrictive, and there were a lot of contradictions I came across as I started studying deeper and deeper into the faith.

Lucy26,
I would keep you in my prayers. I wish you all of God’s Blessings in your journey to the Catholic Church.

Thank you so much!

My husband is wanting to computer, I will get to all the other posts soon as I can!

My prayers for you, Lucy26, and you as well, arabic catholic. I am attending a Catholic college, and while I have grown up in a Catholic household (and we were faithful Catholics, and still are, don’t get me wrong), I have grown much in my faith here too. It becomes more and more beautiful every day. I will be attending Sunday night Mass in a bit, and I like to say a Rosary beforehand…I will remember you both as I say it.

I guess what I’m trying to say is…God bless you and peace on your continued journey, and welcome home. 🙂

Having gone the other way, I found the contradictions in Christianity rather than Islam. In any faith you find contradictions between how people act and what they’re taught, but to me, the teachings of Islam seem to be sound while Christianity just raised more unanswered questions that only Islam could answer. For me, at least.

And I’ve been studying Islam pretty deeply for a while and have a different take on it than you–maybe because I’m from a different background. 🤷

Well, you have no idea what background I’m from and I don’t know what background you are from. Good luck with your studies- studying is not nearly the same as actually living it though.

If one is preferring to studying Catholic Faith, then one must study how the early Church fathers proclaimed Christianity. They prayed, lived the life and wrote whatever they have followed from the Apostles teaching that came direct from Jesus Christ himself.

Earliest notes/statements/clarifications are from around 95 A.D. (St. Polycarp- Against heresies), then St. Iraneus around 165 A.D. onwards. (these are just approximate dates)

Just my humble suggestion.

Respectfully…if you are referring to your “prophet” Mohamed. It is very possible for Mo hammed to be correct about a certain subject and not be a prophet. I do not accept him as a prophet and I do not ascribe any particular authority to his pronouncements…whether they be correct or incorrect. The ideas you attribute to Mohamed predate him by 700 years in another faith called Christianity. Just a thought:
