OK, I’ll buy that.

Where I differ with you is that “Roman Catholicism” is a “major religion”. And the Pope is the “Spokesman” for Roman Catholics which number well over 1 Billion…

Yes, there are some who may claim to speak for this or that, but the ultimate question is this: By who’s authority do they speak?

rossum
**Nobody going by any authority. Most of the Roman Catholics are living in Paris and Hamburg and such cities. Look at what they are doing? I can’t believe there are so many Catholics in the world. But there can be name sake Catholics only, not any practicing Catholics.

If there is a name sake counting of the heads then Muslims also number more than one billion and budhists may may be numbering much more than that.

Net result: The Roman Catholics have got a name sake spokeperson i.e. the Pope. I agree.

It used to be the Caliph, but that position has been empty for quite some time…
** A group of Muslims have a Khalifah. He had been in the news (touring ) in America and Canada and recently in London. Very soon he will be in the news in Germany perhaps.

He belongs to group of Muslims who are not recognised as muslims by the mainstream muslims. He appears to be a rightly guided Khalifah, but very peaceful, non terrorist, non Jihadi, non political person. That is why mainstream Muslims do not like him. He is the grand-grand son of the Masiha who appeared in India 120 years ago.
The name of the Khalifah is Mirza Masroor Ahmad. He wears a turban.**

I find the posts of rossum of London very reasonable, to the point. But others are also quite good.

By “TruChristianity”…you aren’t talking about these guys, are you? This is what a google search turned up… I would say that these people are just a “shade around the bend”… or a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic…

This was linked to their site…lends them even more credence…,not.

Well, Ireland prior to the invasion by Britain was Catholic, so it was Christian. But…as to whether or not Northern Ireland is Christian now…is debatable. The Catholics there are, however its a stretch to include those who support the Northern Ireland Government.

If I picked the wrong “TruChristian ™” please let me know. I really wasn’t aware that anyone could place their “trademark” on Christianity… Words, yes…otherwise, not likely.🙂
I have to point out that the king of England received the crown of Ireland and was sent there on crusade by…the pope of Rome.

Planten: Most of the world’s Catholics live in Latin America, not Europe (though there are several obviously very Catholic countries in Europe). If taken together, Central and South America make up a total of about 31% of all Catholics worldwide. Including North America (since Mexico is overwhlemingly Catholic), that number jumps up to about 46% of the worldwide Catholic total. By contrast, Europe makes up roughly 22% of the world Catholic population.

**Thanks for the info. Very Good. Now I come to the topic. The Muslims do not have a spokesperson for the reason that they do not have a leader (an Imam). That is why they are not well guided. They are misled by middlemen who are posing as having religious knowledge.

That is the problem. The Muslims are very religious. So they accept anything that is presented to them and start working on it. For instance, there is no order for any holy war with the sword (Jihad) against the non believers. But there is every order to preach the religion peacefully and to permit others to preach peacefully.

But they have forgotten all lessons of good behaviour. What they are doing is not Islam. But I also should not give any lecture because I am not the spokesperson of the Muslims. Bye.**

As a disinterested observer (I am Buddhist) the first thing that struck me was that you can easily rephrase this:I was surprised that Christians disagree among themselves whether salvation is by faith alone or not. Some people on this forum said, “We believe that people are saved by faith alone”, whereas another Christian provided me with a link showing that some Christian scholars disagree and do admit that we are not saved by faith alone.Muslims disagree among themselves; Christians disagree among themselves; Buddhists disagree among themselves. You are not making a very strong argument here.

Does the Pope speak for all Christians? The Archbishop of Canterbury? The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society? The Patriarch of Moscow?Christianity as a whole does not have a single spokesman.

A single specific Muslim group may well have a single spokesperson, just as a single specific Christian group. No major religion has a single spokesperson since all major religions are divided into different groups.

rossum
Your observation is absolutely correct. However, I’m unaware of any christians claiming what muslims do – that they are not divided, that there is one Koran; and clarity, uniformity, simiplicity and “logic” in Islam. Fact is, they are all over the map like everyone else, as I have recently begun see (“sinless” prophets) on another board.

According to some Christians there are no sects in TruChristianity[sup]TM[/sup], since their sect is are only true Christians and all the others are heretics and hence not TruChristians[sup]TM[/sup]. It is often instructive to see how well you argument works when it is pointed in the other direction.

Is Northern Ireland Moslem or Christian?

rossum
By a huge, huge margin christians agree there is disagreemnt. And who is correct.

The Norfthern Ireland example is worn out, and not exactly accurate. But I’ll accept it. Thing is, it is pretty much resolved, and was never on the scale of other bloodbaths. Further, it was more about politics and power, rather than “my religion is better than yours.”

Of course it doesn’t, outside of Catholicism and a couple others. Most christian communities are fiercly independent (many due to their Reformation roots) and absolutely reject central authority, especially in the West.

Is that the group that thinks there was another prophet after Mohammed? An Indian or Paki fellow? The sect’s name begins with an A. I went to one of their mosques once.

Are you referring to Ahmadi Muslims? There was a poster on these forums, paarsurrey, who was an Ahmadi Muslim.

paarsurrey and planten write very similar posts in similar font colour and similar font sizes. I’ve asked the question, but they have denied being the same person.

**Yes, it is the same group. They claim that they are very peaceful and non political. They had been against Jihad ( Muslim holy wars ). For that matter they are abused by the mainline Muslims in maximum muslim countries. And they are highly persecuted. **.

Finally Allah has sent Ghulam Ahmad to correct the corruption of Muslims. After all, why would Allah stop his technique after Christians 😉
