I have often argued that Muslims and Mormons are extremely alike. Consider this:
5. Both religions corrupt and in essence defame the words, actions and traditions of Our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ as well as that of Our Lady, His Mother, the virgin Mary, by adding words and tales about them in their “new” scriptures.
As much as I read the bible and cherish every word of every sentence of Our Lord and Our Lady, I am often felt with a hunger of wanting more. More than what is there. More than what we know. And thing it would be so incredibly wonderful to find the gospel “Q” or some other authenticated text to hear even more about these figures who I love with all my being.
I feel that Islam, and especially Mormonism preys upon this. To me, their writings are almost like cheap smut rags, who don’t have any truth or real quotes about the people who they write about, instead resorting to heresay and stories they had to make up instead. I find this utterly offensive and defamatory to the legitimate gospels, which is my biggest issue with Islam and Mormonism. Not so much their errant belief systems (like Protestantism) but by claiming they have additional words or “wisdom” from the One true God, when clearly they do not.
- they both have “branches” which still practice polygamy, which was at one time (or still is, depending on who you talk to) was/is acceptible.
- they both center around a charismatic prophet, who’s new update on previous scripture trumps all former understandings of God
- They both begin with periods of refuge and then militancy; the Mormon militancy died out when faced with the threat of anihilation at the hands of the US govt, but Islam has retained its militancy to date
- Both self-styled “prophets” felt themselves above the rules and perscriptions of those who follwed them
