Do Muslims tend to accept apparitions of Mary? It seems like they would because they do hold her in esteem.
I am also curious of the Islamic explanation (so far I’ve only heard the history class one) of why women are required to cover their entire bodies (and I do realize this is only one form of Islam).
Hi Rand,

I can’t say much about the apparitions. I dont think we have an official position.

As for Mary, she is considered the best women to ever have been born.

As for the covering, Muslim men & women are told to be modest; so a women can only display the feet, hands and face to the public. For men, they must cover from the knees to the navel. This is out of modesty. Only the mate, parents, siblings, maternal family, and other women can see more.

A women who is clothed thus, can only be judged by her personality and intelligence.

Ok, then tell me a country that IS an example of what Islam allows.
There is no country on Earth that is following Islamic Law.

The best example of Islamic Law, would be the City of Medina, when the Prophet Muhammad was leading the city.

Hello Iamrefreshed,

You can find it at this link:

usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/002.qmt.html

And you’re right, the verse is 2:282. My mistake.

As for the treatment of women, please post the ones you feel prove your case. I would encourage you to keep all verses in context.

Munawar
Munawar,

I think that is where we will disagree, “in context”. Our opinions will likely differ. Therefore, I feel, it best not to get into that discussion.

Ex Egyptian President Abdel Nasser is one of the many many people who personally saw with his own eyes the apparition of the woman floating, levitating above the Egyptian Coptic Church in Zeitun.

I or you can google this in the internet by searching “president abdel nasser marian apparition egyptian coptic church zeitoun.”

If you can’t find it via google, let me know because I will google it for you.

Munawar,

Your prophet Muhammad is not really a prophet. Christians alone has over 33, 000 denominations from the Protestantism and not 72. Does he know how to count?

Pio
Hello HlGomez,

33,000 Denominations can be rolled up into 72 denominations. It’s a question of grading.

Munawar,

Are we talking of grading? Probably Muhammad didn’t, but you. You don’t want to recognize the lapses of Muhammad’s prophecies?

Hello Pio,

What The Prophet Muhammad considers a sect, versus what you deem is a sect; the chances of these two being the same is miniscule. I’ve met Christians who say there are only a handful of sects…Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox etc.

My job here is not to beat you in a game of words. I’m simply explaining the Islamic point of view. Peace.

Given that, why then did the government in Saudi Arabia feel the need to search my luggage for extra Bibles and have the Mutawa repeatedly confront me with questions concerning my faith (Are you a Christian?) everytime I visited as part of my military duties? Given I made no attempts to spread the faith while in their country why are they so threatened by Christianity? Curious as to your thoughts on this.
Bump for Munawar.

Muslims can practice freely in our nation without government interference, why is that not the case in Saudi Arabia? Even if Saudi Arabia is not a true islamic state why the hostility towards Christianity? What do they fear?

Hello Stu,

What does the Hillbilly KKK Christian fear? Xenophobia?

It’s ignorance in Saudi Arabia.

Munawar,

Even for all I’ve said here recently, I do commend your patience in replying to everyone. I need to work on it sometimes myself. Seriously though, why doesn’t Islam have any definitive authority? When they don’t, this is the kind of thing that happens… who do the Saudis (or any other deviant Muslim) really have that they’re going to listen to now? Although I don’t even know how this would be possible now, with how fragmented and politically dependant Islam has become.

While I understand your point, I believe the KKK hardly compares to the establised Saudi government and proclaimed keeper of Islam. I personally believe that Chrisitianity comes under scrutiny in Saudi because acceptance of it by the masses would lead more of the Saudi population to question how things were run in that country (on many different levels) than does the status quo which provides stability for the seemingly “islamic” royal family to live under.

Thank you for your response.

I understand the idea of modesty but it seems that something like a burqa is a punishment for women. It is restrictive (difficult to move freely or to breathe fresh air - difficult to see so one could trip or bump into things causing bodily injury). There is a difference between modest and* restrictive. *Also, the idea that a man has no self control in the presence of women unless they are completely covered - including the face - is insulting to men.

I have asked many Saudis about the black veil. All answered the same. The answer is, women is sex and if she unveils it stimulates our sexual feelings.

I guess it’s time for good God-fearing Catholics to make like bunnies for the sake of civilization!😉

Come on man, that’s the most non-answer answer I’ve yet seen. If I tell you the sky is green with orange polka dots from my perspective, does that make it so? Of course not.

It may seem I have been a little harsh with you, but I’m only asking you things point blank because you seem like you can take some hard questions. That’s a good thing. But you still are in the habit of avoiding some of the tougher questions which is too bad. If you know the answers, I’d like to hear them, as would others here I’m sure. But if you don’t know the answer, there is no shame in that, just say, “I don’t know but I’ll get back to you.” or something.

This is a good example of the dictatorship of relativism. As someone would put it: -it depends on the meaning of the word “is”-. Very good. Do you know of anyone who has found a whole number between 0 and 1, or maybe 71 and 72? Surely, now you must, because it just depends on how you look at it.

Hello Eden,

I never said that men have no self control. The point is that women cover themselves for modesty. To protect the WOMEN from immodest male gazes, and to protect the MALE from sexual attraction.

Hello Eden,

If the Burqa is punishment for women, then why are so many women willingly coming to Islam, esspecially in America? If you doubt me, then come ask this same question on an Islamic forum like whyislam.org/forum

Here is a link where Muslim converts to Islam speak about wearing the Hijab:

Hello ExoFlare,

The Islam does have a definitive authority figure called the “Caliph”.

Unfortunatley the Caliphate system was dismantled by the British and their Turkish counterparts soon after WWI. So now we are a loose collection of bodies all doing their own thing.

How do you stop the Saudi’s? Through patience, and giving them knowledge. They’re not all like that, in fact most realize the problems in their system. They’ll come around on their own eventually. You have to realize they were riding camels in the desert 50 years ago!

Munawar,

You can say every possibilites you like but it’s like you are in Neverland. Even the muslim terrorists doesn’t want to listen to their own imams and go on their way because they believe their cause has God’s approval. How can you explain the rejoices of your own fellow muslims in the Middle East when the 9/11 happened? They were all dancing in the streets chanting hate slogans against America. A tree is known by its fruits.

Don’t misunderstood me, there are also good muslims, as there are good pagans, buddhists, etc. The law of God is written in every man’s heart. But I suppose these muslim fanatics can never justify their killings of innocent people in the pretext of religion and we should unite in condemning them.
