Muslims are failing to combat extremism

This House believes that Muslims are failing to combat extremism”

I would encourage people to listen to the debate in the link above. It sheds light on a topic that many westerners say, that Muslims are not doing enough to combat extremism. I was pleased to listen to Muslim debaters who brought up points that many non-Muslims agree to. To list a few, one would be the difference in the voices of Muslims against something anti-Islam or anti-Muslim compared to those against the actions of some Muslims towards the non-Muslims. I admire the Muslim brotherhood that each Muslim watches out for his Muslim brother and sister but as a non-Muslim I feel that when a fellow Muslim does an extremist act against me, the reaction of Muslims is so much smaller. Another point brought up was how many Muslims fail to accept blame without putting blame on others.

A question to the Muslims here: One speaker said that there is a lot of extremist literature in Mecca and Medina where thousands of Muslims annually visit. What can be done about this, by the government and the regular people?

I want to make clear, this is not a discussions of if or not Islam is extremist in its ideology, so please refrain from going in that direction.

Hello,

There is wrong interpretations of the Quran and the history of teh prophet muhammed in literature. This literature is uncontrolled as literature that springs about Christianity that is also fundamentalist.

The Quran itself ( as the bible) is a book full of absoloute views. If these views are taken without context and without extensive knwoledge they can lead to error .

The books will be sold and they should be sold . But among the books that are sold are books tha refute the errors.

As for your saying that iof the action was directed against you hen we will care less , that is not true. You are our fellow in humaniy. you have family that loves you and you mean for them as much as i mean to my family.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe Muslims in Mecca and Medina do not consider it “extreme”? What do you mean by the term?
