(John 4:19-24):
“Sir,” the woman said, "I can see that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem. Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Samaritan:
“The Samaritans (Hebrew: שומרונים‎ Shomronim, Arabic: السامريون‎ as-Sāmariyyūn) are an ethnoreligious group of the Levant. Religiously, they are the adherents to Samaritanism, an Abrahamic religion closely related to Judaism. Based on the Samaritan Torah, Samaritans claim their worship is the true religion of the ancient Israelites prior to the Babylonian Exile, preserved by those who remained in the Land of Israel, as opposed to Judaism, which they assert is a related but altered and amended religion brought back by the exiled returnees.”

Muslims also claim that Jesus is a prophet…
Muslims also claim that they follow the Abrahamic religion…
Muslims also claim that the salvation is by their own deeds…
Muslims also claim that their fathers worshipped the true religion of God…

I wonder if Jesus would till the Muslims in the judgement day a similar Samaritan message, that they worship what they don’t know and that the salvation is through Him. But because GOD is so generous as He didn’t condemn the Samaritan in the past, He will consider the Muslims in the future:

CCC#841:
"The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

Sam,

As long as they do not desire fratricide for the rest of humanity, as the devil is a liar and a murderer. Those who hate, lie, and want to destroy and dominate are not walking on the path to salvation.

If Muslims are truly seeking God’s will and being just to those in need, and do not persecute other religions, then they are on the walk to salvation.

This is false. Muslims believe salvation is by God’s mercy and never our own deeds.
clarify your point please

salvation is by God’s mercy , i agree

but whom will deserve this mercy ? that’s dependent on our deeds , brother 🙂

Abu Huraira reported God’s Messenger as saying: Observe moderation in deeds, and understand that none amongst you can attain salvation because of his deeds. They said: God’s Messenger, not even you? Thereupon he said: Not even I, unless God should wrap me in His Mercy and Grace. (Sahih Muslim 39:6765)

i know the hadeeth , and i know what you meant exactly , but for others (nonmuslims ) what you said may cause great misunderstanding
you can’t say that salvation was never by our own deeds

Nay , it’s always by our deeds , but is our deeds are equivalent to the rewards of God in heavin ? this is another issue

without good deeds , the mercy of God will not catch you

Kadaveri , i didn’t mean to oppose you , rather i’m trying to clarify the issue

Exactly, that is a well known theory in Islam…

(Quran 99):
"When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion, And the earth throws up her burdens (from within), And man cries (distressed): ‘What is the matter with her?’-, On that Day will she declare her tidings, For that thy Lord will have given her inspiration., On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done), Then shall anyone who has done an atom’s weight of good, see it!, And anyone who has done an atom’s weight of evil, shall see it."

I would like to add (please Christian brothers and sisters correct me if I’m wrong) that this concept also applies in Christianity somehow, that what I understand from this verse:

(Matthew 7:21-23):
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

I might not be able to explain it really well, need somebody to help you and I to understand it better, but this is how I see it:
  1. It’s not like a balance scale for Christian to have bad deed and good deed to see whether the good deed has outdone the bad deed.
  2. In the view that we see Jesus as our Lord and redeemer, we put our trust in God and let our selves be guided by the spirit of God himself to understand and choose freely to do what’s good and avoid sin, then it’s indeed not the deed itself that guarantee us heaven, but the trusting that God will guide us and give us mercy that will enable us to do what He pleases, that will indeed bring us the title to be the children of God.

I sometimes think that if someone did bad deeds and believed in YHWH’s Word, then he/she would enter paradise but after spending sometimes in purgatory, while on the other side if someone did good deeds and believed in YHWH’s Word then he/she would bypass the purgatory and enter paradise right away.

Stumbeled on this while trying to find a link to a Jewish web site that i saw in a thread a long time ago.

This thread is beautiful to me it shows love in trying to see G-d in all peoples.

Best i understand people of the Islamic religion see Allah will give mercy to those who submit to Him and seek doing good knowing no man will do sufficient deeds, thus it is by His mercy one is saved.

Best i understand Christian religion one is to have living faith in His mercy to be saved, with out good deeds faith is dead.

Best I understand I am way short of the standard G-d wants for and offers me and He gives to me generously for He is most merciful. This makes my heart desire to to good deeds and by submitting my will to Him he even helps me more to do them.

Clearly this goodness is all to His glory.

All we who seek G-d need to live in unity excepting the other and us has some flaw in our understanding of G-d and seek to gently warn of the flaw and above that fervently seek to help the other build on the goodness.

Love yous a bunch, pray well and stay well
