Muslims Saying Jesus Said Don't Eat Pork?

I know a guy who’s a Muslim/agnostic and he asked me why Christians eat pork if Jesus said “Don’t eat pork.” I was very confused, as Jesus never said that, in fact, Jesus said the opposite and disbanded the dietary restrictions.

I tried to tell him that Jesus never said that, but he wouldn’t listen. What should I do in future situations? Thanks!
 
Christ Himself never directly addressed the issue of foods being “clean” or “unclean” (Kosher or not). Some might say He did so indirectly. It’s debatable.

The actual Scriptural source for Christians eating pork (for that matter, shellfish or any other non-Kosher animals) is in Acts when Peter has the dream and he is told that all animals are clean to eat. Acts 10:9

Your Muslim friend is probably referring to a verse in the Koran. Of course, we don’t believe that the Koran is inspired by God in the first place, nor do we believe that it accurately records the life of Christ; while Muslims do believe both.

If the subject comes up again, ask him where it says that Christ told us not to eat pork.
If he cites the Old Testament, then point him to Peter’s vision.
If he cites the New Testament look it up. Find out what the passage actually says.
If he cites the Koran, you will need to point out that Christians do not accept the Koran as Scripture.

Doesn’t Mark 7 basically address what foods are appropriate (even the narration says Christ made all foods clean, in most English translations at least)?

The moral laws of God, both in the Old and New Testament are still binding to everyone, The Jews were bound and still observe the ceremonial laws that were given to them in the Old Testament. The New Covenant was given by Christ to the new Israel of God, the Christians . It’s this covenant and its laws we’re bound to and no restriction on pork is commanded.

Colosians 2: 16-17
Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

I said that He never directly addressed the issue.

In Mark 7 He in-directly addresses it.

I agree that Jesus didn’t speak at all about the subject of eating pork.

If you talk to him again, you might point to the passage in the Book of Acts when God did away with the food laws of Judaism for Christians.

The part where Jesus says he came to “add to it” and not “take away from it” is something I am trying to study up on a little. That might be what they are citing, it would be interesting to see where their research is.
