“Millions of Muslim converts to Christianity celebrated Christmas throughout the world, according to the reports of the various missionary organizations and news media” per SVM News.

One evangelistic agency alone, Salem Voice Ministries, reports that Muslims in India and many other Muslim nations have surrendered their souls to Christ. “There are about 500 evangelists ministering among Muslims in different African, Middle East and Asian countries. A vast number of Muslims finding the truth and attaining salvation of Jesus Christ day by day.

“’More Muslims converted to faith in Jesus Christ over the past decade than at any other time in human history. A spiritual revolution is underway throughout North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. As a result, a record number of ex-Muslims are celebrating Christmas this year, despite intense persecution, assassinations, and widespread church bombings,’ stated Joel C. Rosenberg, the author of the New York Times best selling political thriller.”

Secular media rarely reports such advances of Christianity, especially those thrusts into Islamic territories. However, there are evangelical efforts that know daily of such progress. Finally, God knows and that is ultimately what makes all the difference.

Personally, I would really prefer Christians to Muslims too. Because at least they have hope. In Islam there is no hope. They believe that they are pre-destined to the life they have. That is sad. It has already been determined whether they will go to heaven or not. Some do believe they can change their fate by being a martyr, but that is the only way.

In Christ they can experience hope and love as they have never seen before. Although, the funny thing is that if they were to join any Christian denomination, you would think it would be Catholic just for the simple fact that they are used to structured worship.

All in all, We should be happy and thank God they have found Christ Jesus!

Actually, though Allah has foreknowledge of one’s life, He makes known both the good action and the bad action of every situation for the choice of the individual. This is orthodox Taqdir, which is the absolute decree of good and evil by God. Unfortunately, Persian religious thought affected the teaching of orthodox Predestination, and made it into what it is today among the majority of Muslims .

The Catechism says:

The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amonst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day. (841)

That doesn’t sound utterly ‘hopeless’ to me.

this probably should be another thread, but i’ll respond with my thoughts because it is a common question for catholics coming back to the church to ask.

baptists ‘evangelism’ focuses more on the outter evangelism whereas catholicism focuses on ‘inner’ evangelism. outter evangelism meaning they will talk to you about christ and ask for a decision, due to their belief in once saved always saved theology. catholics, on the other hand have many missionary activiites which focus on inner development such as community outreach efforts and more of a lead by example than a confrontary approach. ultimately, whether you will be placed in christ’s fold is not because of one decision in your life but because you lived your life to be the most christ-centric you could. catholic charities, st paul media center, ewtn, st vincent de paul, knights of columbus etc. are just a few community outreach efforts of lay catholics. there are many, many more.

now, i have a question for you. do you mean that you personally aren’t placing more emphasis on evangelism by not belonging to one of these great organizations or supporting their good works financially?
