Actually, the Qur’an makes no such reasoning; in fact a careful reading of its refutation of the divine sonship (in 4:171) will show that it cannot possibly intend to mean a physical son.
i have more time to respond now in a better way.
Let us see all the verses tackling this issue to see the reasoning behind the rejection of the title, since we all know that the Son of God title per se does not mean necessarily divinity, and the OT uses it as well…so to say that the Quran rejects the spiritual meaning, it means something is wrong since God used this title in all scriptures. So lets see all the quotes talking about this title and see the reason given in Quran:
Such was Jesus, the son of Mary. That is the whole truth, which they still doubt. God forbid that He Himself should
beget a son! When He decrees a thing He need only say: ‘Be,’ and it is.19:35
Allah does not need to beget a son the way men have children, with a wife or consort.
He can just say ‘Be.’
They say: “Allah **has begotten **a Son”. Glory be to Him! His is what the heavens and the earth contain; all things are obedient to Him. 2:16
Allah is terrified at the idea that he begets a son. There is no way but to take it physically: father, wife, son.
Wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth; how can He have a son when He has no consort? 6:101
again, father, wife, son. Pretty clear and has no other theological meaning otherwise there would be no need to talk about women.
The Jews say Ezra is the son of God, while the Christians say the Messiah is the son of God. Such are their assertions, by which they imitate the infidels of old. God confound them! How **perverse **they are! 9:30
Did the Jews believe in a Trinity of Father and Son (Ezra in this case)? no. The term has nothing to do with Trinitarian belief with Jews. So this hardly has anything to do with Trinity since both Jews and Christians are put on the level of “perverse”.
They say, ‘God has begotten a son.’ God forbid!
Self-sufficient is He. 10:68
As if for God to have a Son, it means he “needs” a wife or consort
.
Those who say: ‘The Lord of Mercy has
begotten a son,’ preach a monstrous falsehood, …That they should ascribe a son to the Merciful, when it does not
become the Lord of Mercy to beget one!
again, begetting.
Surely they lie when they declare: “Allah has begotten children”.37:151
Again, begetting
He (exalted be the glory of our Lord!) has taken** no wife, nor has He begotten any children**. 72:3
again, wife and begetting and children
Say: ‘GOD is One, the Eternal God. **He begot none, nor was He begotten. **None is equal to Him.’112
the same way he did not exist by physical union, nor does have a wife to beget children.
9 verses so far talking about wife, son and begetting. To say that the writer of the Quran did not have a physical meaning behind it becomes absurd since God does not need to mention women and begetting to refute the theological meaning of the title used by Christians and which has absolutely nothing to do with women and begetting. Dont you think God knows better than giving these wrong reasons that have nothing to do with the title?
*Say not ‘Three’, cease! That is better for you, (for) God is but one deity. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that He should have a Son. (*4:171)
The important part is ‘God is but one deity’;
