Hi!

Please forgive me if this is the wrong sub-forum for this question. A little background: I’m a young guy in college, considering communion with the Church. Currently I belong to a non-denominational church, but it’s killing me spiritually to not have the sacraments regularly, and confession is not even available!

I intend to pursue a political career after college, but I’m wondering, if I am to be part of the Church, would I be required as a legislator or executive to support legislation and constitutional amendments that restrict abortion and homosexual marriage? Further, would I have to advocate for more restrictions on access to contraceptives?

Feel free to ask me where I’m coming from on this, and about my political orientation in general. On economics I am very liberal, but on social issues my attitude has generally been laissez-faire.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Mark
