Must something be sprinkled with Holy Water to be validly blessed?

I have a free one-decade Rosary ministry in my parish; I make one-decade Rosaries and give them away.

A few months ago, the local hospital asked if they could have a bunch for each floor, and of course I said yes! Taking the Rosaries to our parish priest to have them blessed, I was surprised that he only said a prayer over them, without touching them or sprinkling them with Holy Water.

So, does something need to be handled by the priest and then sprinkled with Holy Water for the blessing to be valid?

I think that’s fine.

My priest didn’t touch my Bible when he blessed it.

Nope, in fact none of the items I have had blessed were sprinkled with holy water. Each priest just made the sign of the cross over it with his hand and spoke a blessing.

no the power is in the blessing itself, not the holy water or the touching, relax
ordinarily bibles are not blessed since they are already sacred, being the Word of God, but if you ask I am sure a priest will bless it for you.

If it is blessed, then it is blessed.

But I admit to having a personal preference. After having a medal or rosary blessed (if it will hold up to getting wet) I prefer to dunk the item(s) in Holy Water. It is perhaps my personal preference because I come from a Baptist background (where baptism is immersion).

I once had a rosary blessed by a deacon and he sprinkled holy water on the rosary after blessing it. And because he made such effort in his prayer, I felt better about that rosary’s blessing than a normal situation (priest’s blessing).

So if it makes you feel better and accept it more, yes go ahead and after you have your rosary / rosaries blessed go and use holy water on them yourself. I say that because if you feel better about your rosary, you might use it more. And that makes it worthwhile.
