My 11 year old wants to know: is it a sin to kill house spiders?

I just got this question from my 11 year old.

Is it okay (by God) to kill house spiders? Basically, is it a sin?

No it is not a sin to kill any kind of spider. If it were, I’d be doing a lot of penence.
