My 7th SDA friend said " gee I hope people see Christ in me" so I said… What do you do that Christ did?

So the question is what do most people do what Christ did?

How about you??

How does Christ work thru you?

Other than being thankful Christ is holding me up on my feet rather than letting me fall down, I don’t think much about how Christ is working in me. I’m just a poor pathetic sinner who’s screwed a lot of things up in life.
I think about how I can see Christ in others.

I’d feel awfully show-offy if I were going around saying, “Gee, I hope people can see Christ in me!”

You number each of your SDA friends?

You gotta look out for the 8th SDA - are they really true SDA’s? 😛

I have no idea how people see Christ in me. I doubt they hardly look, however I do have a tendency to turn water into wine from time to time.

I remember Fr. Barron in a video or homily talking about how, in Christian symbolism, 8 stands for infinity since 7 is like wholeness or perfection in the Bible. Perfection 8th SDAs have transcended to a whole new level of existence?

Never had the issue of people “seeing Christ in me.” Get quite a few reactions, but never that. Usually come from criminal defendants in the form of expletives when they see me. Not known for compassion; more like no quarter offered.

Usually see me with a grim visage, a look that says I’m here to kick your butt. I’m not really the face of kindness.

I am not good at presenting different things to different people. Tend to be very much what you see is what you get.

Have found in my line of work that compassion simply leaves you open to exploitation.

I understand. But as one lawyer to another, the whole world is not your workplace or your line of work.

You may need to be a certain way at work to get the job done. Jesus may be calling you to be more than just your worker self, especially when you’re not at work.

Are you saying you are always grim, always looking to kick someone’s butt, and always unkind? I highly doubt that.

Let’s put it this way… I am not known for smiling. Nor am I known for being joyful. At “best” I get to more peaceful than usual.

Bearself: I live with a work cellphone, and am kind of on call pretty much all the time. Work and “life” pretty much blend together. My work even blends into church activities, and the timing of events. I have no spouse, no kids, etc. Used to think that God was calling me to do certain things, now, I’m just not sure.

That’s unfortunate. It is possible to be another way if you wish to be. You don’t have to just give in and be wholly consumed by your work. It’s sometimes easy to do, but there are alternate ways of being.

Your screen name is apt. Pray and seek advice. Godspeed.

Not really sure what else to be/do other than the job at this point. At 40 and 3/4’s, not too many options for marrying and having a family. Options basically limited to people with mental health “issues;” people who couldn’t maintain a relationship if their life depended on it; people who became widowed/divorced with enough kids to start a small orphanage; or people, who as one person put it in regard to the City of Detroit, are so ugly that if they were a battlefield, ordinance would refuse to land on it.

As far as church stuff goes, work really interweaves with it at times. I can’t explain more. Might wind up joining another parish instead. Not sure how that works, as the next nearest one is in a completely different diocese. Whether I’d want to drive ~25 miles in bad weather for church is another story.

Simply stated, I don’t think that anybody would ever mistake me for Christ.
