i am addicted to porn and masturbation and i am in a difficult situation that may seem odd or silly to some
i’m afraid to ask my parents to take me to confession because i am afraid they will know what i’m doing and don’t want to be know for my shameful act. even though i desperately want and need to go
the addiction has made me really sad and i’ve kept it away sometimes and fallen into a loop other times and have been constantly fighting and searching which is why i came here for advice and prayers.
i am also receiving the Eucharist unworthily because i’m afraid that my parents will ask why i didn’t and still make me take it.
i fear being embarrassed and being know as a bad person to my parents.
i know my situation is long and maybe even silly but i need prayers and advice because i know i can be a good person once i escape this

thank you for all those who respond
i’m Catholic

Even when guilty of sin you are a good person and we all sin.

Prayer said for your needs.
thank you very much
that made me feel better and while i may be good i should always try to be better
thank you and God Bless you

I will pray for you. I would suggest mentioning to them how “It’s been a while” since you all went to confession, and why don’t we do that soon? Or, since it seems like you do go to Mass, try to catch the priest after mass for confession; it doesn’t have to be scheduled and in a confessional. With something this serious, plus you’re still consuming the Eucharist, you should do everything possible to go to confession, and I’m sure the priest will understand. Jesus, I trust in You. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth. Amen.

Do you not have a parish in walking distance? Or look into a bus or train that goes near a parish, the internet is there to help you with these things!

Even if you cant do those things, why would your parents judge you for going to confession? Do they not go to confession? All Catholics NEED confession!

As a person who has had a history with the same problem, and it was much worse when I was younger which I am guessing you are, say a Hail Mary whenever you get any impure thoughts or desires or even better say a whole rosary. She will help you but you need to want the help.

If you still cant get to confession, don’t receive the Eucharist. If your parents make you get in line, cross your arms over your chest and they wont give you Communion. If your parents ask you why, say you need to make confession.

I know when you are young everything embarrasses you so this may be hard, but it is better to be judged by man than to be judged by God.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular ineedofmercy, and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.

May Saint John Vianney intercede for you to find a good confessor and to obtain the grace to make a good confession. Amen. :gopray:

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom to overcome your temptations.

One of the most active groups on this site was: The Impurity Addiction Support Group

It has always been, and is a closed group and you have to ask the moderator to join. There used to be a link to the group like you see for tons of other groups that deal with inconsequential stuff like “Catholics that like to cook” and so forth that no one really has a moral and emotional crisis with. So I suppose that some well meaning person or persons decided that having a link to the group was somehow inappropriate and so it was removed. So if you search for the group I suspect you’ll find a link to it.

If you or anyone else can explain to me why the link to the group was removed I’d appreciate that too.

In the mean time I’ll be praying for you.

BTW, I don’t understand why you can’t get yourself to confession.

Peace, g.

Just do it. Let your embarrassment to ask your parents to go to confession be part of your penance or mortification. They might wonder, but I don’t they’ll ask. It’s none of their business. praying for you…

Please remember that your relationship with God is WAY more important than your relationship EVER could possibly be with any human being, even your parents. God loves you SO MUCH that even if it had only been to save you, He still would’ve sent His Son to suffer and die for you so that you could have eternal life. He wants to be with you forever and more than deserves to have this desire of His Heart and remember accidents happen and sudden illnesses can occur. If I were you, I would go to Confession ASAP.

And if your parents or anyone asks you why you need to go to Confession, Which they have absolutely NO RIGHT to do, than be sure to tell them that this is strictly between you and God.

i’ve tried to bring it up a lot and may work
thank you for your prayers and support that i may become braver and stronger i wish i wasn’t so afraid of embarrassment and my wrongs being know and all the awkwardness that comes with it
you guys are really helping me

it’s not that i’d be judged but they’d want to know why and probably find out and my brother who is my best friend would surely know and he would never embarrass me but i don’t want him to know i’m like that.
you really get my situation and this is helping me i will try to be braver and smarter to i can but my guilt and sin behind and do charitable works which i enjoy but the devil tells me i need a false love
thank you so much i will try to do what you said i know i can come to this community to deal with embarrassment too

Your situation is not silly. This is a constant battle that many of us struggle with. Just ask your parents to take you to confession. If they ask, then just say that you need to reconcile yourself with God. I would be surprised if they are not quite pleased that you want to go to confession.

God Bless.
