Hello all, this is a long post by the way

I have posted on here before about being Christian and military/state service before and I’d like to say thanks for all of the advice and support you gave me as I tried to decide. I felt like this was really worth mentioning.

I was in AFROTC up until last week and I had been trying to decide wether or not this was the right path for me or not, and I was having alot of trouble deciding wether or not I wanted to be a part of the current wars etc. Heres my story:

Due to the recent cutbacks in defense spending and what not, I was not chosen for further training this summer and ultimately a commission in the air force. The couple of weeks leading up until the day we were told who made the cut or not, I had been praying alot and asking for God’s help with my decision. The night before they were going to announce to the cadets who made it or not, I prayed as sincerely as I ever had before and asked for God’s guidance, I prayed that whatever would happen or not, I had put my life in His hands. I really believe that He answered my prayers or at least gave me a sign that the air force wasnt where He wanted me, since I was told by my cadre that I had competitive stats and everything, and that there was every reason that I should have gotten selected! What do you all think?

I really feel like a weight was lifted of my shoulders and that everything has happened for a reason. I am now going after my original ambitions of the US Coast Guard and or policeman. I really feel like the coast guard and police mission are where I belong.

There is one final question I have. I have read the many other threads about self defense, the military, killing, and everything else. there was one question that wasn’t answered and that was posed to me recently- what if as a policeman or guardsman I am forced to use lethal force on a fellow christian to defend myself or others? How does God view that?

thank you all for reading this, I really felt the need to share my experience!

God bless

the Church allows people to use deadly force if necessary in defending one’s life.it recognizes the need for policemen and military personnel.
