My apologies to all the Catholics (and others) who may be offended by the comments of some regarding the death of Jesus and the importance it plays in our lives today. I know that there have also been other comments that many have found offensive. I have tried very hard to be kind and open-minded in these discussions but may have failed along the way. Please forgive me. Nobody - and I mean NOBODY - here speaks as an official representative of the Mormon church. Most of what is said here is opinions with some actual church teachings mixed in for variety.
Please be kind to eachother.

I myself try never to judge anyone, or make any comments to hurt anybody, or to offend. I have been lately trying very hard with compasion, and trying to unconditionally Love all people. There are times where, I open the NON-Catholic section here, and peek at the list of threads, then close it back up, because of the tone of things. My Post count is a bit low here too.

Maybe it is my “Pollyanna” side that makes me come back. I just wish we could all get along - no matter what church we go to! Jesus taught us the greatness and power of love; I just hope that someday those who are so bitter for one reason or another will come to realize that there are some here who do not have any sort of hidden/conversion agenda.

I consider myself as a Catholic Mormon, because Mormons don’t have the level of worship that the Catholic church has, and also the Catholic church seems to have a better understanding of Human Suffering than the Mormon church has.

I think that people are just defending their beliefs, and this reminds me of a basket ball game, where things can get out of hand, where a player will get into a brawl with a player of the opposing team, like what happened to the Detroit Pistons a couple years ago, where a brawl happened between the audience and the players.

People either are defending their faith, just poking fun, or they have lost it, when they post. I try not to Quote people when I can, but will sometimes Quote, for I believe that too much quoting of one another can lead toward contention. In ways I compare Quoting a person here is also tendency to judging them too. I am trying to not judge others, for only GOD knows their hearts.

you reminded me of something a friend used to call me. She called me a “Quabacathmo” - Quaker, Baptist, Catholic, Mormon because I just could not seem to fit into one single denomination.

The antimormon posters are few but not many. They are usually the same people with the same axe to grind. But they are in the minority. I have called some to confession because of their tone and words. It is not very catholic. The catholics that I know from the parish are good and kind people and would not say an unkind word about mormons intentionally and if they did they did so out of ignorance and not out of malice.

Don’t worry about the few antimormons on this section of the forum. They are not representative of the board at large.

I think that LaMar was being nice. However, I do know that he has had his moments of nastiness too. But this time, he was just being observant.

I see no reason why you should apologize. You did nothing wrong.

THank you for your post, but I am not trying to get anyone to be more “christian like” in their posting - only Christ can do that. I post here just because I want people to know that not everyone is the same in their beliefs even though they may belong to the same church/denomination.

That’s pretty interesting. It’s that way in my ward too, but I always assumed that was due to the fact that I live in “the mission field”.

Yeah, that is what I mean when I say “the FAIR board”.

I honestly don’t know why you hang out there. I love their farfetched, conspiratorial explanations (horses are really capybaras, and when they said steel in the BoM they really meant obsidian). It’s all very cult-like.

When we are kind to someone christ can say: YOU DID IT TO ME. The you did it to me gospel is amazing and some of the catholics on this forum need to follow it by doing kindness and not unkindness in thought and words. .

Since I was born catholic and attend Mass, I can call them to repentance for their unkind words. It is a venial sin to express such unkind emotions and language toward someone.

How is this different from me calling our missionaries to repentance after they mock local preachers with racist skits, or smash up the private property of a catholic diocese?

It was how you did it. I try to make room for human allowances and attempt to understand through human allowances. I had the impression that your intent was different. It was a harsh condemnation with a touch of glee in it to prove a point about the lds church. But I could be wrong…

What you interpreted as glee was probably an extra measure of embarrassment and disgust.

I dislike this when it comes from Mormons even more than when it’s directed at us by outsiders. Aren’t we supposed to be the people who are called to be “a light to the world” and all that?

Anyway thanks for your honest answers, and I hope nobody spills the beans about your investigating Catholicism to your buddies on FAIR. I won’t, anyway.
