Hi guys,

I have a friend, who classes his self as an Atheist, but with an open mind!

Hes asked me to get him some material for him to read, as he said, if there is a God he wants to find him and change his life around mainly for his newborn son.

Im looking for some free material online, which I can give him the link to, so he can read up, as he is really keen to look this up.

I have recommended Patrick Madrid’s new book The Godless Delusion, which he has said he is going to get

Also I gave him a link to St Thomas Aquinas Summa Theolgica

Any thing is really appreciated,

Thanks & God Bless.

The Loser Letters by Mary Eberstadt. (Ignatius Press) -very witty!
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis

You can always get him straight to the source:

Confessions by St. Augustine of Hippo
*Summa Theologica * by St. Thomas Aquinas

The former helped me get back on track; the latter is a great question and answer guide (right after the Catechism itself).

Pax.

As in mlz’s post, I likewise recommend C.S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity, which, among other things, describes Lewis’ thought processes which led him from being an atheist to a Christian. I do not know if it can be read online for free, but an audio version of the text can be heard on YouTube:

The book, of course, can be readily found in any bookstore, including online vendors.

Here is a link to the Life is Worth Living audio recordings by Bishop Sheen which are a good primer of Catholic belief. The pic in the prior poster’s sig made me think of them!

Unless your friend is into philosophy the Summa may either go over his head or be a turn off. Just a note of caution that it’s not for lightweights.

Denish D’Souza has written some great articles and books on the existance of God.

I asked my husband that does lots of reading in this are and another book is REASON TO BELIEVE Why Faith Makes Sense by Richard Purtill by Ignatius Press.
