Over 50 years ago my parents brought me to church to be baptised as a baby. 😃

If you have kids, put their baptismal date on the calendar and make it an event. I found out my date when I was engaged and looking up these things for our upcoming wedding. Let them see that this sacrament matters.

Thank you Lord for your kind grace and long suffering!!
So, who’s coming for cake?? 😃

Congrats! Count me in!🍰

Happy Baptimersary! Mine was in the Church of England on 12 October, 1958.

I always knew there was a pretty little baptismal certificate amongst my late parents’ photographs and papers. I found it again last year when I was received into the Catholic Church and needed the details. I would have been around 5 months old when I was baptised.

It’s lovely to remember such an important event.

Happy Baptisimal Anniversary Day. I also mark my Comfirmation Anniversary Day; the day I became a Soldier of Christ.

Congratulations, and may God grant you many happy and blessed years!

I see that you are Ukrainian Catholic. Were you baptized in the Byzantine tradition? It is a very beautiful one. (For my fellow Latins who are unaware of the Byzantine method of baptism, infants are generally baptized, christmated–confirmed, and admitted to the Holy Eucharist in the same service.)

I was baptized in the Byzantine cathedral here but my parents remembered none of it. They apparently went to a number of baptisms, and couldn’t even remember if I was baptized in the ‘Polish’ or the ‘Ukrainian’ church. OK, BIG difference since it was RC or Ukrainian Catholic. It mattered when I was getting married and finding the papers was quite an effort. At the time the Divine Liturgy was in old Slavonic and the RC was in Latin, so they really didn’t know that there was a difference. Priests, incense, language they didn’t understand. Both communion on your tongue. Life is very different in a parish now.

So where do you worship now? Latin or Ukrainian church?

The Ukrainian, Eastern Rite, Byzantine church.
My husband, when we were dating, was in awe of the service. There was no problem with him joining me.😉
I really love vespers as well. I never got so much catechism like I did attending vespers over the course of the year. Beautiful hymnology, so rich.
