lol. I’m trying to laugh, but it’s getting me down. I am only 20 years old and I feel like I am nearing the end. As many of you know, I was a dancer for 12 years. In the course of that time, (I danced hard), I dislocated my knee and shoulder, broke my foot, tore a tendon in my knee, herniated a disc in my neck, and possibly took a fracture to my lower back.

Well like Frodo’s wound from the Morgul Blade, my injuries have never fully healed, lol. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2010; the illness probably resulted from the neck injury, but my doctor is not really sure. I’m in constant pain, and I have gained weight from inactivity. I HATE my body, and I already struggle with anorexia, so it makes it worse.

Last year, I lost 60 lbs. and needed to lose a bit more. But during the summer I went horseback riding, the horse threw me, and I fractured my kneecap and tore the meniscus. I then had to have my knee scoped, which delayed the weight loss process.

Now here I am today. I have been extremely ill with intestinal issues, I have a constant fever, severe abdominal pain, and nausea. My doctor is not sure what is wrong with me, but now there is speculation as to whether I have mononucleosis (which would explain my constant exhaustion). However, if that is the case, I am now being kept from exercising until I have a definite answer, because my spleen could rupture. God has been with me, because when I exercised the other day, I had very bad pain and nausea in my side…nothing ever came from it.

So I can’t exercise, which is basically the only thing that makes me happy. I hate my body, and I want to lose weight…and now there is another big delay in my life. I’m tired of it - I am SICK of being sick. And I feel so alone. I do not really have any friends, and I feel like no one understands how sick I really feel. My grades dropped this semester because of it, which devastates me, because I am a 4.0 student. Next semester begins in less than a month…and if I cannot get this problem sorted out soon, I’m done for.

Please pray for me…pray that I have the strength to get through this. Because some days I think I will simply be unable to go on. Thanks for listening. God bless.

Gosh! What a time! I’m sorry it’s been such a rough year! “When it rains, it pours!”

Well, I don’t know what I can do about the physical ailments, probably nothing. I have no advice on that, either.

As to friendship, I’m also alone. If you’ll notice, a lot of people especially now feel lonely. It’s not uncommon. I am alone, too. Feel free to PM me anytime. I’d be happy to listen if you just wanted to vent.

That’s a shame about hating your body. Try not to be so hard on yourself. Our bodies are, at best, only temporary. In the next life, we’ll get new ones, God willing.

Please offer up all this suffering in reparation and atonement for sins…of the world, for the conversion of sinners, and for the souls in purgatory, whichever you like. “It’s all good” as they say. If you offer your sufferings up to God, at least this could possibly even free some souls from purgatory! So, it’s important to give purpose to your suffering, so you don’t feel like it’s “in vain”.

If you need to, you can also be treated for depression, even if temporarily, to help get you through this time.

If your body won’t let you continue, you might need to, at some point, consider a career change, as well. You might need a career that wouldn’t be quite so hard on your body.

Anyway, let me close with a prayer for you.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blest is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. :gopray:

O QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, Most Holy Virgin, we venerate thee. Thou art the beloved Daughter of the Most High God, the chosen Mother of the Incarnate Word, the Immaculate Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Sacred Vessel of the Most Holy Trinity.
O Mother of the Divine Redeemer, who under the title of Our Lady of Good Remedy comes to the aid of all who call upon thee, extend thy maternal protection to us. We depend on thee, Dear Mother, as helpless and needy children depend on a tender and caring mother.

Hail, Mary…

O LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, grant that we may draw from thy treasury of graces in our time of need.
Touch the hearts of sinners, that they may seek reconciliation and forgiveness. Bring comfort to the afflicted and the lonely; help the poor and the hopeless; aid the sick and the suffering. May they be healed in body and strengthened in spirit to endure their sufferings with patient resignation and Christian fortitude.

Hail, Mary…

DEAR LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, thy compassionate heart knows a remedy for every affliction and misery we encounter in life. Help me with thy prayers and intercession to find a remedy for my problems and needs, especially for the person who posted this thread asking for our help.
On my part, O loving Mother, I pledge myself to a more intensely Christian lifestyle, to a more careful observance of the laws of God, to be more conscientious in fulfilling the obligations of my state in life, and to strive to be a source of healing in this broken world of ours.
Dear Lady of Good Remedy, be ever present to me, and through thy intercession, may I enjoy health of body and peace of mind, and grow stronger in the faith and in the love of thy Son, Jesus.

Hail, Mary…

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of Good Remedy,
R. That we may deepen our dedication to thy Son, and make the world alive with His Spirit.

And you can pray the following prayer each morning:

O Jesus,
through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I offer You my prayers, works,
joys and sufferings
of this day for all the intentions
of Your Sacred Heart,
in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
throughout the world,
in reparation for my sins,
for the intentions of all my relatives and friends,
and in particular
for the intentions of the Holy Father.

Amen.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Are you allowed to swim, or would that also endanger your spleen? I don’t mean marathon swimming, but just gentle water exercises that won’t put so much strain on your injuries? I have a friend who has multiple physical problems and can barely walk, but when she gets in the water, she feels more alive.

When yoget better and are able to excercise again try to do easier excersices so you dont hurt yourself. You prob know more then me. But maybe go swiming or even a long walk. If you are goiing to jog or run do it on grass becuase it will be alot better for your body stomping or grass then on solid concert or a walk path.

If it makes you feel any better, I think I found it, lol (just trying to help with the laughing part). I can actually sympathize with you quite a bit. I decided to start losing weight again about a year and a half ago. I’ve had a torn meniscus several times in the past (both knees). It’s never been so bad that my doctor wanted surgery so I’ve always worked through it with medicine, exercise and weight loss. As I started working on my weight loss program, I tore it again. It was one of my more severe knee injuries and it sidelined me for almost two months. Once I got past that I slipped on a fabric softener sheet that had somehow been left on the stairs and injured my back. I was down for another 2-3 months. When I could finally walk without pain again I went to the gym and fell victim to a pair of ignorant, overzealous physical trainers who left me in worse shape than I’d been before. I’m still in at least some degree of constant pain, but it’s finally to the point where I think we’ll be able to start walking, possibly hiking and maybe even get into the gym. In the meantime, we had the most horrible, stress-filled year we could have ever imagined, which only compounds matters because eating has always been one of the ways I deal with stress, which adds weight & guilt and stresses me out more, which makes me eat more, etc. I’m praying the new year brings relief on at least some front. Regardless, I’ll be doing what I can to get back on track. I’ll definitely keep you in my prayers. I know how difficult all of this can be, especially when your body keeps derailing everything you’re doing to make it better.

I would strongly, and I mean strongly, recommend seeing an osteopath or similar doctor; notably one with nutritional training. Western-trained doctors are in general horribly bad at discovering the cause of and dealing with chronic issues, especially of the type you are describing. I’ve seen firsthand D.O.s cure such issues. By cure I mean solve the problem permanently with no medication. The most incredible example dealt with a family member who keep going back for more and more invasive and expensive tests. I recommended this person go to a D.O. One session was the testing, the next session was the discussion of the test results and the recommendations, and two days later the problem was gone…never came back.

As far as the actual physical damage to your body (back, knee, etc.), it simply has to heal, and you’ll have to do the therapy (stretching, exercise, etc.) appropriate to your state of healing. Just don’t overdue it, otherwise it will simply set you back.
