Brothers and Sisters,

My brother is a fallen away Catholic. Sometime after high school he left the church. He married his first wife in the Methodist church IIRC, and divirced her after she was unfaithful. He married his second wife in the '80s. She was and is active in the Christ-Life Fellowship. My brother is now active in this organization.

I have not had many discussions with him over the years about his status untl recently. He and I were in the hospital recently watching over our dying mother. He knows I am very active in my parish and that I am a fervent Catholic.

I asked him about this fellowshi just to understand what their beliefs are.

They do not have any dedicated church buildings. They meet in members homes or at conventions.

They do not keep the Lord’s Day holy.

They focus mostly on the writings of St. Paul. When I questioned why he stated that Paul’s teachings were the only ones relevant today and mentioned something about since the Jews had turned their back on Jesus that anything associated with the gospel writings and their applicability to the Gentiles was voided by their denial of Jesus.

I have been praying for his return to the Church and I realize that there is very little that I can tell him that will influence his return and that the only way is for the Holy Spirit to intstill in his heart the trruth about our Cathilic faith.

His wife is “spiritual”. She knows scripture (at least Paul’s letters). I think that her influence on him is much more than I could instill.

My questions for this thread are:

Is anyone on this forum familiar with this fellowship?

Does anyone have any experince with this “Paul is the prime gospel authority” view of scripture?

Can anyone provide me with any information that I can arm myself with in the event I have more opportunities to talk to my brother about this?

Your prayers for my brother will help as well.

Thank you.

Yours in Christ,

Eddie Mac
