To All Followers of Christ,
My older brother DAVID died today in a nursing home. He is one of my four siblings.
He was the first to die. David was to celebrate his 78th birthday in three days. My sister and I had planned to see him tomorrow, to give him birthday and Christmas presents.
He had lived a very difficult life as a chronic alcoholic. His turbulent life caused much pain to my parents and us. He had the “curse of the Irish”, as we say. My two other brothers also never overcame alcoholism. I also found out today that one of them has cancer and
refuses treatment. All good brothers three that could not overcome this deadly disease.
God somehow chose me to become sober. A.A. was literally a Godsend to me. I guess
that for some reason I am being directed to write this tonight. You see, I have not written
to this sight for years, and it just came up on my computer! I also have addicted children
alcohol/drugs. I’m not looking for sympathy at all. Just PRAYERS for all my family.
I’ll be ok. I’ll go through my life waiting for the next phone call with news of another
upsetting/scary event and I’ll do all I can to rescue/help my loved ones, like most of
us do. My faith in my God has sustained me. I’m 71. Please don’t ever give up on anyone
ever, including yourself. Prayer, Mass, Communion, Faith, Hope, Charity are not words.
They are life sustaining gifts from Almighty God. He just asks us to follow his Love in all its forms. This late in life I have realized that there is nothing to be afraid of as long as we have a understanding of Gods plan. Don’t wish or strive for wealth, status or recognition. Live to do Gods work like Blessed Mother Theresa. Be not afraid He goes before you always. Please pray for my brother David’s soul that he will receive Gods mercy. And my older brother George who is in dire need of Gods mercy as he nears death. God Bless you all and give you the strength to carry your own Cross. Jim
