Lord, we lift up Tony in prayer today.
Lord, our God, You sent Your Son into the world
to bear our infirmities and to endure our sufferings.
For Your servants who are sick,
we ask that Your blessing will give them strength
to overcome their weakness through the power of patience
and the comfort of hope
and that with Your aid they will soon be restored to health.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

O loving messenger of the Incarnation,
descend upon all those for whom I wish peace and happiness.
Spread your wings over the cradles of the new-born babes,
O thou who didst announce the coming of the Infant Jesus.
Give to the young a lily petal from the virginal scepter in your hand.

Lord with our clearer understanding of the seriousness of Tony’s injury, we ask Your continuing grace and support for Tony, Bernice, and the family.
We are as You know, a close family and all very grieved. Help us to be there in wise, helpful way, each of us according to our particular gift.

Tony and Bernice spent their lives giving to others, helping others, and now it is they who need others’ support and understanding.
They have faithfully loved and served You. Please give them loving support in hard time and happy times in the years ahead.
Tony’s faith and acceptance inspires everyone, as does Bernice’s courage and love. Please don’t allow their bright spirits to fade. Please keep their faith strong and Tony’s humor and acceptance buoyant.

" Tony’s spinal injuries have left him as what they call a C6-7 Quadriplegic. He had a bifacet dislocation meaning that the top section of his neck was flung up and forward during the accident. This means that although the level of the fracture within his neck was level C5-6, (which was repaired surgically with titanium plates and screws to the front of the cervical bones), the Spinal Cord Damage is at the C6-7 level. This means that any nerves which come out of the spine below the level of this, no longer works. "

Dear Trishie , I am sorry I have only just seen this thread for your dear brother-in-law , Tony, but please know that he is now in my thoughts and prayers , as his his wife and family .

Heavenly Father , I ask you to shower Your Healing Grace on Tony , who has suffered this grievous accident . Please help all those who are involved in treating him , to aid his recovery using all their skill , knowledge and dedication . Please grant Lord , that by Your Mercy and Compassion , Tony may recover as many of his facilities as posssible . Please give comfort, strength and help to his wife Bernice and his family in this worrying time , and bless them , together with our dear friend Trishie . Amen .

Praying for all…

Holy Saint Joan, compassionate to the sick and wounded,
who, while on earth, nursed so many back to health, hear me.
You who wished to see no one injured or in discomfort,
pray for Tony and guide him through this difficult time.
Daughter of God, wounded many times in battle,
I petition you for healing of body, mind, soul, and spirit,
so that he may be better able to serve God in whatever capacity He wishes.
Intercede for him please.
Help him to remain strong and be healed physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Thank you my dear friends for your prayers. I ask God to thank you for us.

Tony was able to speak to Bernice for 15 minutes yesterday. My sister laughed and cried for happiness. 🙂 So far he had been only able to smile and nod, and clumsily wave his arms. As the spinal cord complete damage is between C6+7, it will be a blessed miracle that I do ask You for, Lord, that Tony will be able to move and use his fingers. But thank You for what function he does retain.

I just found, amongst my own prayers, this prayer my sister Bernice wrote .
I pray it on behalf of both Bernice and Tony

"Oh Jesus, come more deeply into my life,
Constantly strengthen my trust and faith.
Pour out your graces abundantly in me.
I hunger for your great love and peace,
And need you more and more each day.

Wipe away the tears of frustration,
Help me not to be too disappointed
When things don’t go as they should.
Shield me from the force of storms,
Don’t let me be so shaken by them.
